If you don't want to participate in or celebrate Halloween, I respect that. But let's be honest, most "Fall Festivals" are just Halloween carnivals in drag.
You still have the pumpkins, the candy, the costumes (but not the "scary" ones). What's the real difference?
At our former church they advertised that kids should come as their favorite Disney or Biblical character.
Wife and I had a hard time deciding between Cruella de Vil, Rahab the Harlot or the Witch of Endor.
That's a beautiful line. Mind if I steal it?
My family never did Halloween. For a while we'd just have a family night, then later we often would celebrate one of two brothers' birthdays that fell close on either side.
I never felt deprived, but I'll bet that's because my parents didn't try to go halfway on things. Kids are smart enough to see that "Fall Fests" are just Halloween dressed up.
(One church we went to, apparently several teens came as demons to the "fall fest". Hey, it's in the Bible)
I just want to know why I should buy candy for other peoples' children.
That's hilarious. By those guidelines you could have gone as Satan, the Antichrist, or the False Prophet.
