Watching paint dry is mroe fun than watching Senator Allen on TV. The guy has no appeal. He has a habit of putting his foot in his mouth. I kinda got turned off when he suggested that Bush should meet with Cindy Sheehan a second time. I've known him for 20 years and I'd have to disagree. But that's my personal opinion.
As for the Cindy Sheehan comment, he did not say the President should have met with her again. He did say that he would have met with her before she began her media circus, but not after.

I know the answer... It will be Mike Pence from Indiana!!!
He is an articulate conservative who is ideologically committed to limited government!

Hate Crime legislation is an Equal Protectioon clause violation, IMO.

He has been my first choice. I need to look into this more. First blush is troubling.

Once again, it depends on what the meaning of "is" is.
To: RockinRight
Wow! I think this is the first time I have ever disagreed with you! Romney is the real threat! He already(amazingly) has borderline-movement conservatives pushing him and he WILL push FEDERALISM hard.He will be way more articulate than Allen or Romney.Romney isn't more conservative or competent than Allen, but he will appear to be both.

You may have a point there. I guess I just figure that most Midwestern and Southern Pubbies won't fall for a Massachusetts Republican.

Brownback, Pawlenty, Allen
Allen is obviously not ideal, but he passes the threshold of acceptability, unlike out-and-out liberals like Romney, Rudy, et al.

"Brownback,"
Immigration makes him a non starter.
Voted for NCLB and Medicare
etc
"Pawlenty"
He is not a movement conservative and does not have the support of conservatives in his own state.
He is too pro-big education
Broke his no new tax pledge
etc

You would think....but Romney has more conservative grassroots support than Allen or Brownback.Especially in Michigan and New Hampshire.Romney has more support in Minnesota than Pawlenty for 08,I kid you not! Romney is a threat to conservatism!

You're probably right on at least two of the three. I'd like to see an election where I didn't have to hold my nose to vote.

Sam Brownback has been a trusted conservative for years. People who hate immigrants won't vote for him, but people who want to reform immigration will.
Tim Pawlenty has a great track record as governor, pushing through conservative legislation in a state traditionally run by liberals. He got 95% of what he wanted in the budget even when the Rats forced a government shutdown. He's been a very good fiscal and social conservative, with some populist initiatives on peripheral issues. Next best thing to Jeb governor-wise.

I wouldn't be too sure of that yet. Can't predict anything two-and-a-half years out, but who were people talking about for the 2000 nomination in 1997?
