Chris Core of WMAL 630 (Wash, DC) is asking his audience if it matters if Ms. Meirs turns out to be gay. He also says Time Mag is going to run the story. What say ye?
I knew and I just used the opportunity to get another comment in.
I can't get the image out of my head of Schumer, Kennedy, Durbin and other dems questioning her if this turns out to be a founded rumor.
"Ms Miers, I'd like to ask you a few questions about the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy."
Really? Then why did I hear the exact same rumors about John Roberts? I have heard it about Robert Bork for crying out loud.
This same damn question has been raise on any number of conservatives. And people like you jump up like good little puppies ready to do the liberals bidding and tear apart another conservative. I am sick and tired of it.

if Time does run such a story, it's just more evidence of how disgusting a publication they have become. I remember when they ran a similar story about Janet Reno when she was nominated for AG .. oh, maybe I don't.

A rank amateur would only believe she is gay, largely based on the fact she's never been married, or has no children, or is, in their words "physically unattractive". To suggest, in light of all known facts, that she is indeed gay, is sophomoric.
Like I said ; Bush caused this, not me and not Chris Core. He could have selected a known quantity and gone to the mat with us at his side. But Bush totally wimped out, no question about it. George has been beaten down. It is sad really.

I'd love to hear her straightforward answer to that question. Those that know her, know her to be straightforward, forthright, and never cakewalks around any issue in front of her. Some of her collegues have said that though while she may be "soft spoken", she tells it like it is.
I for one, cannot wait for her to mow down every question the Democrats like Schmuck, Fat Uncle Ted, and Dick Turbin ask her.

Wouldn't do diddly squat. President Bush has unfortunately learned a hard lesson that he has no fighter in his corner on Capitol Hill on matters that move his agenda and America forward. We can all wring our hands and wish for that prospect of a huge fight, but sadly, with the sheer number of linguine spined Republicans in the Senate, it's not to be.
When Core or anyone else asks a question such as this what they really mean is "Would the allegation that she is gay be a means of manipulating the bigots on the right?" And that's all they mean.

Ok then say it, lets hear it. Let me see you state that you really like his choice of Meirs, and wouldn't change a thing. Not disappointed in the least. Everthing is just hunkydory with the old teddy bearster. George did the best he could of done Bravo!!!
They don't have to do anything just toss out a little smear and next thing you know our "Pure conservatives" are ripping them apart. Is it any wonder that Priscilla Owen wanted to be taken off the list?
Harriet was not my choice. She was not even on my radar screen and I am not very happy to have her as the nominee. But I refuse to tear her life into little shreds at the bidding of the liberals.
At least they had to do the dirty work on Bork themselves. Now conservatives are leaping to tear nominees apart for them. I watched it with Roberts and now it is happening with Meirs.
Enough is enough. How on earth are we going to get qualified people to do what need to be done when they have to deal with not only being attacked by the opposition but in being attacked by their own side for no other reason then someone started a rumor?
Because I refuse to carry the dim's water and do their bidding like you do?
