Maha Rushie
It was just mentioned by someone here and then by Rush later that Miers is a long-time member of an Evangelical Christian church.
Perhaps this is the thing the Dems will target and cause our base to get energized.
What do you guys think??
Is that poor sod ever really happy?
See my post #329 & #330 (sorry for the double post!) for the article Rush was reading on her Church
evangelical Christian!
evangelical Christian!
evangelical Christian!
evangelical Christian!
Maybe Dingy Harry will have to eat his own words.
Reid was trying to down play when a reporter asked him about how he recommended her name to the president
Reid wanted out of that presser fast .. LOL!
Sounds like your Dad was a wise man!
I, too, will take the sit back and wait & listen approach. I must admit to an earlier life as a Democrat, first as a liberal then a moderate. It took years of watching our government throwing money at our schools, the poor, and all of society's problems to realize money couldn't solve those problems and there had to be a better way. I began my road to conservatism, and now consider myself to be a TRUE conservative no matter. Who's to say she hasn't been on the same journey?
LOL. He'll certainly be downing the Maalox.
fair enough, forget Luttig and Rogers-Browns and Owens then, since they are "hard line" (for the sake of argument). what about Edith Jones?
If he didn't know, I'm certain Cheney will relay it to him whch is why I was happy he was on Rush's show to convey the sentiments of many in the base.
Basically my attitude is that I'm disappointed. I now expect the administration to make a solid case in her behalf. I'll keep an open mind, but it is reasonable to expect the administration answer the questions of those that have supported them with concerns. Obviously they have begun to do so, we'll see how this develops.
Agreed I do not believe he was motivated by polling or punditry. I'm convinced he had chosen her awhile back.
The fact that she gave money to gore and bensten in the early 90s has already been shown to mean little. Her law firm required that, and she hasn't donated to any democrats in well over 12 years.
And have you never heard of the fact that quite a few people who involve themselves in the lottery commissions do so to ensure it's kept clean and lawful?
And what's horrible about being a close friend to Laura Bush? She's proven to be just about the most conservative strong Christian First Lady this country has had in many decades. If Harriet Miers is a good close friend of Laura Bush, I consider that a BIG PLUS.
Can you name any known conservatives who are opposing her? So far, Hecht, and Sekulo, and her Pastor and members of her very conservative Evangelical Church have backed her up strongly, and many other known conservatives. She's also supported Phil Graham, and Pete Sessions, and other conservatives back when she was a Democrat. Reagan was also a democrat. But I bet you supported him. There's no reason to think that Harriet Miers isn't the same kind of recovering democrat just like Ronald Reagan was. Nothing you said even comes close to outweighing all the good that's come out about Miers. You need to really look at all that.
I did not know trial lawyers and lottery commissioners could be evangelical Christians.
Consistently mild and pleasant, with exceptional construction. Well-constructed using Dominican and Mexican filler and Connecticut shade wrappers, Macanudo has a great reputation for quality. In fact, it is the top selling cigar in the world.
Now you did it...Next stop my local Cigary! :)
That was my favorite line. I had to step away, and am trying to catch up now. ;*)
Whew! This is the best news I've heard all day. I may support this Christian sister and our Christian president. I've noticed the web site to her church is down. I'm guessing this is gonna be the big fight that will get the base fired up. The Libs will start attacking her beliefs and that'll be the spark. Watch the media turn on her. What network will be the first with a satellite truck in front of her church?
correct me if I"m wrong. You said Meirs was an "evangelical Christian".
Are we sure of that?
She attends aa Christian Church, which is a distinct denomination, also known as "Disciples of Christ". that's the denomination I grew up in, and while there may be Disciples of Christ who would identify themselves as "evangelical", I don't think I've ever met one.
Hmmm, good. By the way, did Reid do a presser with Roberts? Is this a usual occurrence? I don't recall anything like that happening before, but maybe I just missed it.
At some point, does the Republican party throw some red meat to the conservative base? We do have another election coming up, after all. Stealth has a purpose. Stealth aircraft make up only a small fraction of our warplane inventory, however. Sometimes the troops (and the enemy) need to SEE and HEAR jets screaming low over the hilltops. If we might also see parachutes from Republican Senators unwilling to press an attack home, then that's good to know, too. (Somehow I think don't think they'd punch out, though, if their leader made an Issue of it.)
Can you imagine the next EIB commercial on Miers?
Harriet Miers is a CHRISTIAN (christian)...
She believes that someone can rise from the dead (the dead)
Just a thought ;)
