Dear ------,
Today, President Bush announced his choice to succeed Justice Sandra Day O'Connor as the next Supreme Court Justice: Harriet Miers. Ms. Miers is the third woman to be nominated for the Supreme Court, and like Justice O'Connor is a legal trailblazer. Ms. Miers is an extremely well-qualified and fair-minded individual who is committed to interpreting the law instead of legislating from the bench.
President Bush selected Ms. Miers after embarking on a thorough and deliberate thought process. This confirmation however promises to be much more contentious than the confirmation of Judge John Roberts. Before Ms. Miers was even announced many Democrat groups said they would oppose her. They have no interest in giving Ms. Miers a fair hearing or vote. They are promising to throw every punch, make every accusation and pressure every Senator to oppose this nominee no matter what her qualifications may be. We have to be prepared to counter their actions and that is why Harriet Miers needs your help.
To ensure Ms. Miers is confirmed by the U.S. Senate, I need you to do three things.
1. Call your Senators. Tell them Harriet Miers has your support and deserves theirs.
2. Sign our petition in support of the timely confirmation of Harriet Miers.
3. Call talk radio, write a letter to the editor of your local paper and tell your friends and neighbors why you support the President's choice.
Harriet Miers has a record that demonstrates a commitment to faithfully applying the Constitution. For more information on the nominee, go to www.gop.com.
In the coming years and decades, the decisions the Supreme Court makes will greatly affect all of our lives. We need a jurist on the court who will not legislate from the bench, who will approach cases with an open mind and who will be fair. Ms. Miers is that jurist. Call your Senators. Tell them to vote yes on the confirmation of Harriet Miers.
Sincerely,
Ken Mehlman, RNC Chairman
I'm calling my Senators....Telling them to distance themselves as quickly from an imploding GW. He has finally stepped off the deep end. Any continued support for W is a vote for a Dim majority in the next election.
The same claim was made for David "Gerbil Stuffer" Souter by Bush '41. I'm skeptical the second time around. No evidence. No support.
I'll donate to Mike Pence. I'll donate to Ken Blackwell. I'll donate to Tom Coburn.
Not the RNC.
cant wait to hear what elrushbo has to say about this
Gerbil Stuffer? Have you heard stories?
She doesn't have my support.
I would have been pleased if Bush had made qualification a higher priority than gender.
Oh? How are we supposed to know that? Help me out here.
"committed to interpreting the law instead of legislating from the bench."
These were just about the exact words George Bush #1 said when selecting Souter for the Supreme Court.
C-Span showed old film clips last night, and I watched some of the Souter nomination.
Forgive me if I'm skeptical hearing the same words about Miers.
Souter is definitely a "confirmed bachelor" and purportedly the model for the closet homosexual Supreme Court justice in The Pelican Brief by John Grisham.
Uhhhh...don't think so.
Mr. RNC you tell me why the President walked past all those great conservatives judges for this woman. No more blind support. You may have just lost the base. No support unless you clearly define who she is.
P.S. The base is pissed right now.
Ken, Ken, Ken....do you want me to lie?
See we had the same thought. You beat me to it!
Well, I have always suspected that he "plays for the other team."
November, 2006, will not be pretty for the Republicans if the base stays home. Why would George Bush alienate the base? I can't figure that out. Don't look for a lot of help from the troops, Ken.
No.
Sincerely,
Kacknor
1) Never vetoed a spending bill (or any other bill).
2) Has completely abandoned our southern border.
3) Increased federal spending on education and expanded federal involvement in education curriculum.
4) Signed the appalling "Campaign Finance Reform" bill into law, thereby limiting freedom of speech.
5) Has not proposed one single budget cut.
Sorry, Kenny Boy. No can do.
Great FReeper minds think alike. ;-)
I got this email and replied that he has lost his mind if he thinks I will support this lame pick.
