Preachin':

I guarantee that the church will stay home in 2006, and Hillary will win the POTUS in 2008. The church is the GOP base, and Bush just stuck it to us. I won't be voting GOP anymore.

TitansAFC:

I'm with ya, brother. I'm done with the GOP for a while. This was it, the last straw. Hillary will win in 2008; and after the Miers picks, I actually don't care anymore. I really don't. Isn't that sad?

No problem. It has been quite clear for awhile that no matter what, the self-appointed 'voices of the pro-life movement' would find a reason to shout "Betrayal!" and rend your clothing and gnash your teeth. Ya'll do it every month. And when RVW is overturned you'll claim that it happened despite the GOP (though it wasn't Dems who nominated the justices who will vote against it.)

So ya'll have proven, time and again, that the self-appointed 'voices of pro-life' are reliable only in your poison, defeatism, and that you'll bail every election for a Keyes or a sit-at-home-thumbsuckingfest. So why on earth should the GOP continue to woo and try to count on ya'll? Since you've established such a track record, they'll go with a winner who can bring in votes from the middle, a Giuliani. What other choice do they have? No one will ever pass ya'll's test, you'll just keep raising the bar until you can get back to your default pessimism and cry of "Betrayal!" The cry is your pacifier, you can't sleep without it.

I'm a pro-life social conservative, but I'll withhold judgement until getting more info. Knee-jerk drama queening does our side no good (and you DON'T speak for the church, you speak for yourself.) You guys are like the girlfriend who is constantly threatening suicide if you don't win every little argument. Might work the first couple of times, but only a fool will go to the alter with her.

Go ahead, form your own party. We'll then have an elephant, a donkey, and an Eyeore.

Interesting.

Enjoy President Hillary.

But hey, at least you told us! How fickle we are, always threatening to leave when we we're just looking for an excuse. That's why we organize, donate, pray, and work so hard for the GOP - so we can find a reason to leave.

The next time you accuse me of claiming to speak "for the church," take a deep breath and exhale. You don't know what you're talking about. I am the last person I would ever want people to see as a representative of "the church." Few are so worthy.

Be careful whom you make your enemies. In 2006 and 2008, you may be looking back at Bush as the one who should be tonguelashed, not me (us).

Let me ask you a couple questions.

1. Are you glad that Clarence Thomas is on the Supreme Court?

2. Was all the pain in getting him confirmed worth it?

If you answered 'yes' - which I'm thinking you did - what in the hell is W thinking by nominating a career politician (excuse me, STATE LOTTERY COMMISSIONER) with absolutely ZERO judicial track record to maybe the most important Supreme Court vacancy of our generation and maybe a generation to come?

How can you defend this nonsense when there are at least a half dozen MINIMUM extraordinary candidates out there who - though they may have a rocky confirmation - have achieved there bona fides on the bench and are RELIABLY conservative and originalist? For the party that decries affirmative action as a slap in the face of the notion that those who are BEST QUALIFIED should be rewarded, I cannot believe that you are defending the nomination of Harriet Miers when Alito, Jones, Luttig, Williams, Sykes, Brown, and others are slam dunk justices "in the mold of Scalia and Thomas".

Forget about these guys - this is a slap in the face to Justice Thomas and Judge Bork who stood in the firestorm, bloodied and beaten so Bush could appoint an old friend.

At this point, I don't care if she turns out to be the clone of Anton Scalia. The White House couldn't stomach a tough confirmation and stuck a shiv in the backs of some of the most qualifies and deserving jurists this nation has ever produced.

This is a disgrace.
