My sister is 65, never been married, and definitely not a lesbian.

Yeah, he really pushed the bounds. He picked someone who looks like the crypt creepers older, unmarried sister. She's 60 and not exactly a youthful 60, maybe if Bush is really lucky, Hillary will have the occassion to name her replacement in the years 2009- 2017

Beam me up Scotty.

Really? Why don't you take a poll in here and see who watches "Sex in the City", "Will & Grace" & "Desparate Housewives" and then tell me who is supporting immoral principles.

I don't watch any of them. And I think that Laura's jokes and attending a homo marriage do support immoral principles.

Another big problem with Miers I am just realzing. She has never been married and has no children. I have never trusted so-called Conservatives without children. It is a quintessential part of understanding the damage that liberalism does to society. This is also a problem I have with Condi Rice, who may also be a lesbian. (as if her pro-Hamas stance wasn't bad enough).

I suppose your narrow-minded view of this has Pope Benedict XVI as a raving homosexual.

You have an ignorant, ill-informed, bigoted attitude.

"So you support OPEN BORDERS and ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION??
you support Giant GOV prescription plans??
you support the FED gov in Education??\
you support OUT OF BALANCE FEDERAL BUDGET??
you support not keeping a promise to appoint judges who we KNOW are conservative??"

I think the most important thing we conservatives wanted from Bush was honoring his pledge to appoint strict constructionists. First we get a stealth candidate who NO ONE can be sure of, now we get a Bush crony. As fat as I'm concerned Bush should change his name to George Wus. What a weak, smarmy, backstabbing, BS pick this was. And the Idiot doesnt even have the excuse about worrying about getting re-elected. Bush is stuck on STUPID.

So why did Bush ask Harvie Wilkinson if he exercised. Wilkinson, I Believe is 59-- Bush's questions of him suggested that he was concerned about his nominees longevity. Does Harriet Miers look like someone who'll be around a long time-- does she look in shape or youthful?

Face it, it was a crap pick that apparently violates many of Bush's stated criteria.

And by all accounts, a homosexual.

Which accounts?

It's not her AGE that concerns faithincowboys; she's doing her damnedest to insinuate she's a lesbian.

You are spot on when you point this out on comments made by more than a few Freepers.

The Signal/Noise ratio is way to high to have a reasonable discussion on this thread as of present, I'm afraid...

Conservative Group Opposes 'Bush Packing' Appointment of Miers
Mon Oct 03 2005 09:52:34 ET

To National Desk

Contact: Jesse Binnall of the Public Advocate

FALLS CHURCH, Va., Oct. 3 /Christian Wire Service/ -- Public Advocate President Eugene Delgaudio has issued the following statement following the appointment of Harriet Miers to serve on the Supreme Court.

"The President's nomination of Miers is a betrayal of the conservative, pro-family voters whose support put Bush in the White House in both the 2000 and 2004 elections and who were promised Supreme Court appointments in the mold of Thomas and Scalia. Instead we were given 'stealth nominees,' who have never ruled on controversial issues, more in the mold of the disastrous choice of David Souter by this President's father.

"When there are so many proven judges in the mix, it is unacceptable this President has appointed a political crony with no conservative credentials. This attempt at 'Bush Packing' the Supreme Court must not be allowed to pass the Senate and we will forcefully oppose this nomination."

***

My thoughts exactly...

The perpetual-wedgie crowd is finally heard from.

So apparently are the advocates of "contemporary moral standards," which used to be known as immorality and indecency.

"You should have been here the day it was announced that Cheney was the VP pick; believe it or not, it was worse than this."

I was a lurker at that time, and I couldn't believe the BS that was posted about Cheney by the Donner Party Rinos pretending to be the true conservatives.

Miers Donated to Democrats Chris Cillizza Picking through the background of newly minted Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers, there's some political activities that may irritate the president's conservative base -- she donated campaign cash to a handful of Democrats, including Al Gore. In her defense, the donations date back to the 1980s. For example,Miers gave $1,000 to Gore, then a senator from Tennessee, during his 1988 bid for the Democratic presidential nomination, according to Political Moneyline -- the best site on the Web to track money and politics. During that same cycle, Miers also donated $1,000 each to Democratic Texas Sen. Lloyd Bentsen and the Democratic National Committee. Miers's more recent donations less surprising. She gave $2,000 to President Bush's 2004 re-election effort and $5,000 to Bush's recount fund in the aftermath of the 2000 election.... http://blogs.washingtonpost.com/thefix/

4 . MIERS, HARRIET E MS 11/3/1988 $1,000.00 DALLAS, TX 75229 [Contribution] DNC SERVICES CORPORATION/DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL COMMITTEE
For those who are grasping that Miers was supporting a "conservative al gore", this contribution came right around election day when Dukakis was already nominated.
It would have been an anti-Reagan contribution for the most part...Bush was the Reagan legacy at that time and perceived to be quite conservative.

BINGO!

Yeah, this lady is a REAL Conservative...she was donating RIGHT BEFORE ELECTION DAY to the DNC!!!

Given Dukakis' positions (Pro-abortion, anti-second ammendment)...does ANYONE think that she was donating to someone she was philosophically OPPOSED to?!

And when the Political winds changed in Texas...she weathervaned right along with them (Good sound principles there...how does GWB justify her work AGAINST his father and the (R)'s?) and in all likelyhood kept her previous "Principles" in tact, because the (R)'s decided to go with a "Big Tent" strategy...which just allowed the enemy to work from within to destroy the Base!

But I'm sure that the BushBot Kool-Aid crowd will be along soon to pooh-pooh this info, and pass out warm glasses of Pi$$ and tell us it's Republican Strategerey Lemonaide!

Uh, it would be a bit of a problem if Benedict was married with children. Try again with a better analogy.

I'm thinking that Bush has a good reason for this appointment. It may be appropriate for the Administration to give those who jump to conclusions a little hint about what the reasoning is before this gets out of hand.

This person may end up being the most conservative SC Justice in history.

LOL. Too funny. Just imagine you have this massive national problem. Your only choice is picking one of two people to solve it.

#1 is basically unknown, and inexperienced.

#2 has a long proven track record of no-nonsense, top shelf leadership, problem solver etc.

Who would you pick to do the job?
