I'm not telling you what I care about -- I'm telling you what voters care about.
If you think the millions of evangelical Christians who turned out for George W. Bush in 2004 would even walk across the street for Giuliani in 2008, you're dreaming.
Well, I know they're a temperamental bunch that loves to stomp feet and gnash teeth, but I think at their root, they're practical people that vote the options in front of them. Or we'll end up with a Democrat.... could go either way at this point.
Catholics, too.
George W. Bush beat "Catholic" Kerry among Catholics thanks to a concerted effort publicizing their respective stands on abortion, euthanasia, embryonic stem cell research, etc.
Churchgoing Catholics voted strongly for Bush. You ask us to vote Giuliani and you're gonna get laughed out of town. Many will revert to voting Democrat, and many more will vote for a third option, any pro-life third option, or just stay home.
Millions who would laugh at the thought of voting Bush will vote Giuliani.
There is a thread that he would take NY. Easy. He will also take CA.
