Well, I know they're a temperamental bunch that loves to stomp feet and gnash teeth, but I think at their root, they're practical people that vote the options in front of them. Or we'll end up with a Democrat.... could go either way at this point.

Well, we social conservatives have voted for a lot of Republicans over the past 30 years or so. We've accepted a lot of half a loaves, quarters of loaves, and small crumbs from the table.

But should the party kick us in the teeth by nominating someone who would be a little left of center on social issues for the DEMOCRATS, well, then, we WILL gnash our teeth, and we WILL do the practical thing - we will vote third party or not at all - and the Democrats will win because of it.

If Mr. Giuliani were to win the Republican nomination, social conservatives will have already lost, and lost big. It would be tantamount to telling us that other than our votes, we are no longer welcome in the Republican Party.

If we leave, with our votes, well, what can I tell ya?

Remember what Ronald Reagan said about leaving the Democrat Party. It can work in the other direction, too.
