Alberta's Child brings up, sadly, a good point. It's the kind of point people don't like talking about, but it does make a difference. And it's a fact in political science: looks do matter, a lot. That's what attracted a lot of initial contributers to Bush, IMHO. They had confidence in a man with looks. And that's the context AC was using, if I remember the initial post correctly.

There hasn't been a single President in the television age (and by this I mean going back to 1960 -- the first year that television audiences exceeded radio audiences in the U.S.) that didn't have a full head of hair and a clean-shaven face. Every one of them was relatively tall, too.
It's become part of the job description for the White House, and I'm sure Rudy Giuliani knows this better than anyone else.
