Don't post this site. An earlier poster indicated that this site is verboten on FR.

Oddly enough my first reaction was that I was seeing some special effects from an upcoming movie. But when the second one hit and then the third at the Pentagon and the plane went down in PA. I pretty much knew. AH HA, we have a pattern hear and things is mighty non coincidental. I bet this was a terrorist act against the US.
Course looking back it might have been just some depressed students who wanted attention.

The instant I saw that picture, that was my thought as well...muzzie.

What's even more disturbing is if you go to the UO website, it's nothing but FOOTBALL, FOOTBALLL, FOOTBALL

President Boren obviously has his priorities in the wrong place, or maybe Football is the only thing UO alumni push for at the School. No Football, No Money, No Fame...so sad that's the name of the Game in most colleges these days. I never heard of the Intelligence Bowl on Thanksgiving Day.

I think, perhaps rather than not wanting to start panic, they don't want people to start going after muslims.

I am puzzled. If I recall correctly when Hinrichs' father was first interviewed he seemed rather puzzled by his son's suicide. But today he remembers just how depressed his son was. Also the quotes about his being a private individual, lacking direction in life, being unhappy with his major, being depressed, being lonely and frustrated. Could very well described 100's if not 1000's of college students.
If this guy was such a loner- why did he join the frat? Maybe to look good on a CV for job applications after graduating?
And I have to admit if I was a family member I would be looking for every and any proof that this was just a suicide. The alternative would be to horrible to contemplate.

Then that tells the muzzies...go ahead, kill, mame, terrorize American citizens, we have your back.

Going after the muzzies is only a matter of time then, we know who wants to kill us, and it isn't the white haired old Southern Christian women flying hijacked planes into buildings either.

Someone who is depressed, unsure of his direction in life... Sounds like someone who'd be a perfect dupe for terrorists looking to recruit someone to do their dirty work. Someone quite vulnerable to brainwashing and manipulation.
Yep I agree and made that point a couple of times.
I think we will find he fits the classic profile for just that sort of individual. Why else FBI involvement so early?

I think ALL schools are more concerned about their extracurricular activities(cash-cow) then they are about their academic side.

This kid was definitely motivated with all the bomb making supplies. Don't think he planned on being blown up with all those supplies still in his apartment.

Great insight! Why make a big batch and only use a little bit?

Sure seems like he intended to be around a while--either that, or the report of explosives isn't accurate.

EOD disposal could be loud just from the charges used to dispose of the suspect materials if someone wanted to make it look like there was a lot recovered.

"Kinda like - do what you can - be it big or small - to terrorize Americans. Like charity - give what you can?"

Right. They've done that kind of thing before. Normally, I would imagine that an attention-getting suicide victim would lash out at the 'oppressive father figure'. I don't know what security the school faculty has, but he would have wanted some professor or dean to see him off himself, maybe get a few last words in or something. Maybe at the parking lot, or on a street outside the faculty parking lot.

Same here. I knew about the B25 hitting the Empire State Building in '47..and thought jeez, someone really screwed up....until I heard about the second plane. Then I knew it was no accident.

"If President Bush and the NSC felt there was a threat to this country, they would have bumped our border security up."

Well actually, he was already advised, multiple times, that a worse attack is inevitable. That's what has the Minute Men so ticked off. Inevitable means that there is simply no way you can take safe borders seriously enough.

His actions in regards to the border do not reflect that though, which is why I think they are either utterly incompetent, or they feel that the threat is low.

I will admit that I believe the chances are low, for the simple fact that Iraq has become the Super Bowl of terrorism - if you are a terrorist from the ME, that is where you are going to go, or going to be asked to go, for a multitude of reasons (the least of which is if democracy is truly established in Iraq and Afghanistan, it could lead to other democracies there, which would be a death sentence to radical Islamic groups).

"Why make a big batch and only use a little bit?"

Right. If someone wants to kill himself, he wants to get it right on the first try. He wants to carry every bit of explosives that he has and be sure it's quick.
