The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department. The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State. After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.
I think all he is saying that the second explosion was caused by the bomb squad blowing up something which was not a second device.
Steve Emerson? He's a pretty solid guy, imo.
His book Jihad in America is the first book I read after 9/11. And he's the first person the FBI contacted the day after 9/11.
He had to literally rent warehouses to hold all the material he'd been collecting for years about the hate being preached in the mosques here. He had a guy go in and tape record stuff in a lot of mosques.

Now they are denying there was a second device? Complete shutdown of information.
And contrary to police reports last night.
yes, it seems the re-writing of the story is happening in earnest
If it's not Emerson's blog, then I just don't know who does run it.
Work accident?U. of Oklahoma Blast Is Apparent Suicide
The Associated Press Sunday, October 2, 2005; 9:00 AMNORMAN, Okla. -- One person was killed in an explosion near a packed football stadium at the University of Oklahoma on Saturday night in what authorities said appeared to be a suicide.
The blast, in a traffic circle about 100 yards from Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, could be heard by some in the crowd of 84,000, but university President David Boren said no one inside the stadium was ever in danger.
I have to run for a bit but will catch up with new information later.
Still astounded the press doesn't realize the magnitude of this story.
Here's the OU president's initial statement on the second device.

I think I know who you mean. Wasn't he on every talk/news show just before the elections last year, claiming there are suitcase nukes all over, just waiting to be detonated?

Okla. blast apparent 'suicide'
Oct. 2, 2005 at 7:19AM
An explosion outside a University of Oklahoma football game Saturday night was an "individual suicide," the school's president said in a statement.
"At no time was anyone in the stadium in danger," President David Boren said. Oklahoma was playing Kansas State.
Boren said the area was sealed, and he ordered "a thorough search of the garage area near the stadium by the trained bomb dog team ... Prior to the game, the entire stadium was swept by the expert bomb teams with the help of dogs."
Boren said initial reports of a second explosive device detonated by police were not true.
There was no immediate information on the identity of the victim.
No, it isn't a "traffic circle." We who are familar with the specific area haven't figured out what they are describing, unless it's the South Oval itself, which is a large circular drive throughout the south part of the campus.
