Named in the indictment were Levar H. Washington, 25; Gregory V. Patterson and Hammad Riaz Samana, both 21; and Kevin James, 29, an inmate at the California State Prison, Sacramento.
All but Samana, a Pakistani national, are American born and Muslim converts.

SACRAMENTO -- A federal judge will consider the recommendation of a court officer before deciding if a Lodi man suspected of terrorist ties should be released from jail.
U.S. District Judge Garland E. Burrell Jr. on Monday set a hearing for Thursday to decide if Umer Hayat, 47, should be freed on bond. Hayat is charged with lying to federal agents about his son's alleged involvement with a terrorist training camp in Pakistan in 2003 and 2004.
