I have a faint idea that it was developed in a lab, as was the variety of Sars that kills so quickly.

Yes, I am one who thinks a lot of the new diseases came out of a lab.

What I am finding curious is that the left/commie talk shows are so against this flu and getting shots, that they are foaming at the mouth, sure that this time they will be able to impeach Bush, for lying about the flu.

Not just one program, but all over the dial.

I think the anti flu people scare me more than the flu people do.

I post maybe a tenth of the Promed reports, the bird flu is moving all over the globe and people are dying with it.

Why is it so important for the left to talk people out of getting the shot?

See, I thought that ordinary flu shots don't work on the Avian Flu. There is something called Tammiflu that is supposed to have been effective in helping folks survive, but the strain seems to have grown resistant to this. My doctor told me that I should NOT be getting a flu shot until I'm in my late 50's and that's ten years away. I may get one this year, anyway. Just in case.

A couple of items to factor in as well. First, pandemic flus seem to hit every 20-30 years. Its been that long since the last global flu. Parallel to this is the memory of the botched 'swine flu' that wasn't. However, the major deadly flu epidemics IIRC were avian-based/related. IF this one mutates fully to human-human transmission and is as deadly as currently appears to be, then there is concern. I think our government is at the correct level of concern and preparation for a worst case scenario. They appear to be trying to raise awareness without the 'sky is falling' reactions or dulling people to the seriousness of the issue.

Yeah, I think it might be a little nutty to think they have weaponized flu or even the natural H5N1 or a weaponized 1918 version but I don't think it is nutty to be concerned about North Korea, Iran, Cuba or any Banana Republic with sectors under Chinese or Russian control using any form of any WMD in opportune manner.

The left has long been on the population control bandwagon and the flu is mother nature's culling machine and a pandemic is a societal destabilizer extraordinaire.
