The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Home grown Islamists may hit US: FBI chief

WASHINGTON -- The United States could be attacked by "home grown" Islamist terror groups, the FBI's chief has warned.

FBI Director Robert Mueller told the London Financial Times newspaper in an interview published Thursday that the United States could face attacks from "home-grown terrorism" very similar to the July 7 bombings in London that killed 52 people and wounded another 700, Mueller said.

When asked if the United States could face such attacks from "home-grown groups", Mueller answered emphatically: "Absolutely, it could," the Financial Times said.

I've seen that. I remember almost a year ago when the terrorists hit that school in Chechnya. I mused aloud here at FR that it would make sense if these people were helped by Muslim terrorists. There was talk that some of the "terrorists" in the school were not aware of what exactly they were there for. That somehow these people were not aware of the bombs and such - I said it sounded like they were used. Over the last year (although I missed the transition) it seems that it is now accepted as fact that the "Chechnyan(sp?)" rebels are in fact associated with the Islamic Terrorists... I HATE being right sometimes. Those people were used - just like I fear those within the anti-war crowd are, and will be used. Just like part of me thinks Hinrichs was used as well...

Here is some of the info from last year I as able to find doing a google search. It was the Beslan School Massacre I was referring to. In this report it stated about the arabs involved with the operation...

Your description of the Chechen and russia situation is close enough to the truth.

I do not support terror in any way.

But if you dig into the history of Chechnya before the russians arrived and broke them in the normal way that they do, by killing, murder and rape.

Russia does something that I find interesting when it takes over a country, I try to compare it to our open borders, and get only part of the picture, in my thick head.

When russia takes over a country, it takes many of the local citizens and puts them on the train, to the far reaches of russia. These appear to be the citizens who would be interested in fighting the take over.

But russia then brings in the same number or more of russians to take their places.

That is why you will read in so many reports that half of a country "supports russia" in the election. (my opinion), as we saw in Ukraine's last election.

I have read that cechenya was broke and hungry and al Qaeda came and brought money, hired the men to be warriors and that is how the al Qaeda took over the country.

I had no knowledge of Chechnya, that is why I was looking into the subject, if you do, you will be surprised, as dear ole russia comes out not so clean in their dealings with the country........like why not leave them alone to be free?

And now we have to deal with al Qaeda, who has found another supply of wounded people to buy and see kill and be killed.

I haven't found a google that I did once, it was full of the details on how russia operated the moving so many people by trains out of the countries.

It is basic. and still amazes me, what a way to change the vote, just as our vote is changed, by people who are not legal here, voting in our elections.

In Mohave County, Arizona You only need to give your name and vote, they refused to look at my ID, I pushed the issue,
as a freeper had insisted that you couldn't vote without an ID and I wanted to be positive.....they would not even look at it to pacify an old lady.

In the western states, you do not need to be identified to vote. and could register with the drivers license.

To me the commies in our gov are no different, than russia, they give the country away to the illegals and the communists make no bones about wanting the borders open, so the vote in America can be changed.

Have you dug into etext.org, it is the storage unit for the communist papers, that are recycled over and over, under "Political", see the Mao group, it did have a full section on the fight to keep the borders open.

You are young, do research and then more, you are going to live to put it to good use.

If you dig into the Beslan files here in the Free Republic files, you will see that Russia does not come out as lily white in it.

As they do not in the Theater massacre either.

I am not at all sure that I would be able to say who was guilty of what, I do know, that over the years, russia has not been a country that I would care to claim citizenship in.

Do some googles that are along the line of:

Wasn't it Padilla, who was taught to change the gas pipes around and cause apartment house fires?

on the half hour news, they announced another San Francisco area apartment house fire, this morning, they said the police say it could have been set by the same arsonist as has set the others.......

I have heard reports over the last couple years on those fires, one as i recall, had a propane tank on a trailer, appear out of no where and explode, to set the fire.

The report said that it was a very large tank and had no reason to be there, as the apartment complex was on the gas line and no one used propane.

Sorry, I didn't get all the area names, and wasn't paying attention to the fire report, until she said arson.

They are saying now that the wine warehouse fire did 10 million in damage to the building and 100 million to the wines stored there.

I don't trust Russia for a second - I think some there (Putin included) are just biding their time waiting for an opportunity to fulfill their old goal of domination... There were shades of the "old country" throughout the Ukraine elections last year as well.

Too many players in this "game", and people "cheating" in regards to entangling alliances. Makes it hard to see through to figure out how to stop it all really. I certainly feel for those honest, good-hearted people working in security agencies throughout the world, can't imagine how they do it! (o:

SNIP:A major Indian drug company announced yesterday that it would start making a generic version of Tamiflu, the anti-influenza drug that is in critically short supply in the face of a possible epidemic of avian flu.

“Right or wrong, we’re going to commercialize and make oseltamivir,” said Dr. Yusuf K. Hamied, chairman of Cipla of Bombay, using the drug’s generic name and acknowledging that he might face a fight in the Indian courts with Roche, the Swiss pharmaceutical giant that holds the patent.

Although generic manufacturers cannot legally sell the patented drug in the West, all national patent laws, including those of the United States, allow governments to cancel patents during emergencies and either buy generics or force patent holders to license their formulas to rivals.

A spokeswoman for the Department of Health and Human Services, which has recently ordered 12.3 million doses of Tamiflu from Roche, said she could not comment on the effect of Cipla’s announcement. “Preparing the world for a pandemic flu outbreak is a top priority, and we’re looking at various options in stockpiling drugs and vaccine,” said the spokeswoman, Christina Pearson. “But there are a lot of issues, and it’s too early to speculate about this right now.”

U.S. Soldier Dies in Mosul; 15 Insurgents Detained

WASHINGTON, Oct. 18, 2005 – A Task Force Freedom soldier was killed by small-arms fire in Mosul, Iraq, early today, military officials reported.
No further information was available, and the soldier's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Elsewhere in Iraq today, Iraqi army and coalition forces captured 15 suspected terrorists in a series of pre-dawn combat operations conducted in and around Baghdad.

Three of the suspects are thought to be bombers. Another is believed to be a weapons dealer and a terror cell financier.

The largest operation was carried out by Iraqi soldiers from 1st Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 6th Iraqi Army Division. Shortly after midnight, the Iraqi soldiers captured five suspected insurgents during a raid against a terrorist safe house in the Adhamiyah district of central Baghdad.

About the same time, Task Force Baghdad soldiers from the 70th Engineer Brigade, acting on a local citizen's tip, seized three terror suspects during a cordon-and-search operation in northern Baghdad. The men are suspected of placing roadside bombs targeting Iraqi security forces, coalition forces and civilians in the area.

Another citizen's tip helped Task Force Baghdad soldiers capture a suspected weapons dealer and terrorist financier. The suspect was captured during a cordon-and-search operation involving two houses in northern Baghdad.

In other combat operations, coalition forces detained six terror suspects during raids and searches carried out in central and southern Baghdad.

In Fallujah, a terrorist attempting to blow up an Iraqi security forces convoy ended up killing himself instead Oct. 17.

A three-vehicle convoy from the 2nd Public Order Brigade was on a food run when a taxi pulled up to the convoy and a man got out carrying a trash bag. He was placing the bag containing an improvised explosive device on the back of a convoy truck when it exploded.

There were no reports of injuries among the Iraqi security force. However, two passersby were injured and later transported to a medical facility for treatment by Iraqi police.

The bomber was identified by his remains.
