The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Home grown Islamists may hit US: FBI chief

WASHINGTON -- The United States could be attacked by "home grown" Islamist terror groups, the FBI's chief has warned.

FBI Director Robert Mueller told the London Financial Times newspaper in an interview published Thursday that the United States could face attacks from "home-grown terrorism" very similar to the July 7 bombings in London that killed 52 people and wounded another 700, Mueller said.

When asked if the United States could face such attacks from "home-grown groups", Mueller answered emphatically: "Absolutely, it could," the Financial Times said.

WOW... Arl. Hts. is where I grew up!

Reading the description of what went down outside the Academy is scary and shocking to me!!! I used to go to the pool across the street everyday during the summer, and the tennis courts too! I can literally picture the cops in riot gear, snipers on the roofs and such and it's enough to send chills down my spine!

In the morning, I am flying to Washington DC for eight days. In the tradition begun by JellyJam, I shall follow his lead and be your intrepid reporter from our Capitol. (Since Mr. RR says no computer on this trip, you will have to wait for reports until my return.) Fear not, I shall be on Jihadi alert. I shall be astute and observant. SUSPICIOUS PACKAGES:

More about the Norwalk, CA incident last Friday...
NORWALK - An unattended backpack at a Metro Green Line Station in Norwalk was removed Friday by a bomb squad, but not before a traffic nightmare on sections of two freeways that were closed as a precaution.
Shortly after noon, the backpack was blown up by the bomb squad. Authorities did not immediately say if it contained explosives.

A high school in St. Clair County has been forced to evacuate after a suspicious package was found Monday morning.
The Capac Fire Department and a Michigan State Police bomb squad were called to Capac High School -- located at 541 N. Glassford St. -- after the discovery was made. The students were evacuated as a precaution. I will attempt to find out more about this one...

Cohasset police patrolling: Threat made to bring gun to school
COHASSET - Police are patrolling the middle school-high school today after the discovery of a note in which someone threatened to bring a gun into the building, officials said.

Bomb Threat Reported At Triton High
Students at Triton High School kept the bleachers warm under cool temperatures due to a bomb threat this morning.
COMMENT: This article includes comments apparently from students on the bottom of the page. One in particular said that "all the teachers cared about was us using our phones. Apparently the teachers should've made it more clear that bombs can be set off by phone signals! Sounds like keeping these kids in the bleachers outside for 4 hours was not the best idea....

DUNN, N.C. -- Triton High School was dismissed at 12:30 p.m. Monday after a bomb threat was phoned in to the school, authorities said.

Students of Cohasset Middle/High School will have to leave their backpacks at home today. When they enter school, students will be individually searched by faculty and staff. Extra police will patrol the halls.

I hope that the missionary folks are all safe now, it appears the danger is very high to all.

It is difficult to even guess when they will attack again.

Much faster attacks then here, maybe due to the fact they are closer and reach it by vehicle.

This plague in Colorado and on the Arizona/New Mexico borders has been going on for many years.

I can recall 25 years of hearing the reports and being warned by the Arizona health department.

partial police uniform, with a badge, touched her sexually, then left.

I'm SOOOO glad we don't live in Denver anymore... did this happen in Denver, or in one of the suburbs?

I can't imagine having to worry about being pulled over by fake cops! It was a battle of nerves living in West Denver for the 2 1/2 years we did to be sure (search lights and helicopters looking for bad guys almost every night, gun shots heard on summer nights...). I thank God it's nice and quiet where we live now/

We have plague reports about our multitudes of prairie dogs here in South Dakota too. My 90 year old Dad (grew up on a farm in depression-era western Kansas) says the plague has always "plagued" the prairie dogs. Nothing new under the sun.

The first year we were in CO we lived near a large prairie dog community. Scared the bejeezus out of me the first time I heard them warning about the plague! It can be quite unsettling if your only experience with the plague is reading about the middle ages! LOL

Terrorism: al-Qaeda Asks Muslim Journalists to Help

As the role of the media becomes increasingly important in the overall
strategy of al-Qaeda, the network has decided to issue an appeal for
help to all Muslims working in news and information. With a video
broadcast on Monday on Islamist forums on the Internet, the "Emir of
the Global Islamic Media Front" said: "We invite you to join the Islamic
Media Front so that you can help us, through your ideas and your
experience."

"We need your help and your technical knowledge. The Front is
present in Islamic forums on the Internet and will be boosting its
messages in the future: Come and help Islam by joining the Front" the
message urges.

The recording was referred to during the latest al-Qaeda 'news
bulletin', the third, broadcast last week. During the 8-minute video
message, there is a close up of a man with his face masked, reading a
text written on a page. THe man invites all Muslims in the
communications sector to exploit their knowledge to help the jihad,
underlining the central role that the Internet is playing in the battle
against the enemies of Islam.

Also on Monday, the same organisation broadcast a propaganda video
on the Iraqi insurgency, entitled "The Echo of Bullets", a compilation
of old video clips of Baathist guerrillas and fighters loyal to Jordanian
militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi with in the background an Islamic song
which sings the praises of the Iraqi insurgents.

NOGALES, Ariz. - The Mexican man was nervous when he walked up
clutching another man's visa. It was an amateur job; his face didn't
match the visa's photo.

Within two hours, the impostor, Walter Preciado Cordova, 25, would
be deported back to Mexico, his intentions vague after he was caught
trying to get into the United States with another man's laser visa.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection inspectors at the ports of entry
see such impostors every day: migrants trying to sneak into this
country using the very tools meant to protect against illegal entry
through the ports - the vaunted U.S. laser visas that are supposed to
offer the highest level of security available in the digital age.

To fight that trend, the U.S. State Department is starting a new
tracking system Monday to dissuade people from selling off their laser
visas - or to at least encourage them to hold on to them more
carefully.

The visas are counterfeit-proof ........
