PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE
Office of the Spokesman
This information is current as of today, Sun Oct 16 2005 02:47:21 GMT-0700.
Worldwide Caution
August 02, 2005
This Public Announcement updates information on the continuing threat of terrorist actions and violence against Americans and interests overseas. This supersedes the Worldwide Caution dated March 8, 2005 and expires on February 2, 2006.
The Department of State remains concerned about the continued threat of terrorist attacks, demonstrations and other violent actions against U.S. citizens and interests overseas. Americans are reminded that demonstrations and rioting can occur with little or no warning. Ongoing events in Iraq have resulted in demonstrations and associated violence in several countries; such events are likely to continue for the foreseeable future. Nation-wide elections in Afghanistan scheduled for mid-September may also trigger violent anti-American actions.
Current information suggests that al-Qaida and affiliated organizations continue to plan terrorist attacks against U.S. interests in multiple regions, including Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. These attacks may employ a wide variety of tactics to include assassinations, kidnappings, hijackings and bombings. Extremists may elect to use conventional or non-conventional weapons, and target both official and private interests. The latter may include facilities where U.S. citizens and other foreigners congregate or visit, including residential areas, business offices, clubs, restaurants, places of worship, schools, hotels and public areas.
In the wake of the July 2005 London bombings and the March 2004 train attacks in Madrid, Americans are reminded of the potential for terrorists to attack public transportation systems. In addition, extremists may also select aviation and maritime services as possible targets.
U.S. citizens are strongly encouraged to maintain a high level of vigilance, be aware of local events, and take the appropriate steps to bolster their personal security. For additional information, please refer to A Safe Trip Abroad found at http://travel.state.gov.
U.S. Government facilities worldwide remain at a heightened state of alert. These facilities may temporarily close or periodically suspend public services to assess their security posture. In those instances, U.S. embassies and consulates will make every effort to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens. Americans abroad are urged to monitor the local news and maintain contact with the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.
As the Department continues to develop information on any potential security threats to U.S. citizens overseas, it shares credible threat information through its Consular Information Program documents, available on the internet at http://travel.state.gov. In addition to information on the internet, travelers may obtain up-to-date information on security conditions by calling 1-888-407-4747 toll-free in the U.S. or outside the U.S. and Canada on a regular toll line at 1-202-501-4444.

Thank you for the school links..
Good list, makes me feel sick, to see so many mentally ill people on one list.
I see nothing wrong with your idea to use some or all in threads, we often post the link to threads on TM, and I am
guilty of stealing the whole article to post here, if it is
full enough of info, most go with part of it.....smile.
Thank you for all your work.
I'm not sure about "the finest" - that would be very expensive, and to have very much of it is likely beyond the reach of any organization other than a superpower. But yes, it's probably pretty good stuff.
If it's just natural Uranium, that would include some isotopes that aren't as stable as U-238, and would be somewhat more radioactive. U-238 is by far its biggest component though, the other isotopes are in the low single-digit percent range in natural Uranium. Making "pure" U-238 is as hard as making "pure" U-235 (bomb-quality Uranium) since it takes major technology to separate them. However pure U-238 is essentially useless for either nuclear reactors or nuclear bombs; our military uses it for "depleted Uranium" (DU) shells since it's denser than lead. So it wouldn't be that hard for them to get it - just pick up a few spent DU shells that we fired in the first Iraq war.
Still even "pure" U-235 isn't all that radioactive, just a lot more so than U-238. But the article said U-238 which just doesn't make sense.
My guess is that what they had was more like some raw ore that they were using to separate out the most radioactive elements like Radium. That can be done using relatively simple chemical means, it doesn't require super expensive technology like separating the isotopes of a single element. It would also be much more useful for a dirty bomb.
This distinction is likely to sail past the typical newspaper or TV reporter.
There's a bit of a controversy about whether it's responsible for us to use the Depleted Uranium (DU) shells - not so much because of radioactivity (there isn't an appreciable amount of it) but because of the possibility of the element entering the environment and causing heavy metal poisoning over long periods of time. But there just isn't going to be all that much of the stuff used, it's mostly only used in anti-tank shells because it has better armor-piercing properties than does Lead. However spent Lead shells will also enter the environment over time, and chronic Lead poisoning is no joke either.
My guess is that it's more like the people using the argument are trying to think of reasons why we shouldn't be fighting at all, and have grabbed onto a somewhat phony environmental issue. There are better reasons why starting the Iraq war was somewhat problematic, and it would be better for them to concentrate on those reasons rather than on the phony environmental one.
This distinction is likely to sail past the typical newspaper or TV
reporter.<<<
While I am laughing, I will add "and past most grannies".
I read that the money from the narcotics is paying for the war, plus the fact that many muslims donate to them, proven by all the frozen accounts in America alone.
It isn't only the narcotics from Afghanistan, but also they
are into most of South America and Mexico.
They are also deeply into diamonds and even the spices on your food.

Russian military advisers land in the Gaza Strip DEBKAfile reports
exclusively. Jerusalem was not informed of this latest violation of the
military protocols Egypt signed.
October 15, 2005, 1:22 PM (GMT+02:00)
The Egyptians and Palestinians deliberately opened the Rafah border
crossing from Sinai to Gaza on Yom Kippur Thursday, Oct. 13 this
time not just for illicit Palestinian and weapons traffic but to let in 15
Russian intelligence officers. Officially described as military advisers
to train Palestinian security forces, their arrival floored Israel.
DEBKAfiles military sources say this is a landmark, the first Russian
military presence in a Palestinian war zone against Israel.

Bali terrorists make bomb that leaves no trace
The Sun-Herald/Fairfax Digital ^ | October 16, 2005 | Catherine Munro
Posted on 10/16/2005 2:14:25 AM PDT by LibertyRocks
Indonesian forensic experts fear terrorists have developed a bomb
that does not leave a trace.
Police working with Australian, Japanese and British experts to piece
together the methods used for the October 1 bombings in Bali believe
that Malaysian terrorist Azahari bin Husin may have used ingredients
that are impossible to detect after detonation, the Indonesian
investigative magazine Tempo reports.
Few details are known about the analysis being conducted at police
headquarters in Jakarta to establish what was used in the attack that
killed 23 people, including four Australians.
But there is speculation hydrogen peroxide, hydrogen chloride and
triacetone triperoxide (TATP) was mixed with citric acid, a catalyst, for
the explosion. TATP has been used by suicide bombers in Israel.
Investigators of the London bombings reportedly told Indonesian
police such a combination would leave only traces that were already in
the atmosphere: carbon monoxide and water.

military advisers is a fancy name for sending troops.
I knew an Army adviser, who was in Cambodia, and fought right along with the natives.
We went to Viet Nam as advisers and look what happened there, it is a fancy name for "troops" to me.....
Ex Soldier will be able to look at the mess and see a better idea of what is really going on.
To me, if Russia is sending advisers, then we will be forced to do likewise, then Iran will and we will send more and it is going to get out of control, but then that is where it is headed anyway.
I suspect that Iraq is only practise for the next war.
Russia has been making dagger points at us for months now,
Putin does not want the friendship that Bush offered to him.
I will be very surprised if there is not a world war and soon.

Bus Wreck in Wisconsin Kills Several People
Interstate 94 Shut Down Both Directions
Students Traveling From Band Competition
Interstate 94 near Eau Claire, WI, is still shut down after a deadly bus crash.
A charter bus carrying high school students from Chippewa Falls, WI, crashed into a semi truck early today, killing several
people and injuring up to ten others.
The Wisconsin State Patrol says the accident happened around 2 a.m. about five miles west of Osseo, WI.
Investigators say the bus hit the semi, the truck jack knifed, then the bus crashed into it.
60 high school students were on the bus at the time of the crash. It's still unclear if the people who died were students or
adults who had been traveling with them.
The state patrol says the students had just finished playing in a band competition in Whitewater.
The student who were not injured were taken back to the high school in Chippewa Falls.
Police say Interstate 94 is still shut down for a seven-mile stretch between Foster and Oseeo.

Release A051016a
BAGHDAD, Iraq Coalition forces captured Al Qaeda in Iraqs
propaganda cell leader during a raid last month.
Coalition forces raided a suspected terrorist safe house in Karabilah,
capturing Yasir Khudr Muhammad Jasim al-Karbali (aka Abu Dijana)
Sept. 25. Dijana was the senior Al Qaeda in Iraq propaganda cell
leader for Karabilah, Al Qaim and Husaybah.
Abu Dijanas cell consisted of photographers who used video and still
photograph images to document insurgent attacks against Iraqi
citizens and Iraqi and Coalition security forces.
Local Al Qaeda in Iraq leaders notified Abu Dijana of impending
attacks in the area at which time he would contact his terrorist cell
members and provide them with equipment and supplies needed to
record the attacks.
After documenting the attacks, Abu Dijana collected the photographs
and video and forwarded it to other senior Al Qaeda in Iraq
propaganda officials for their use. The images were then made into
terrorist propaganda products for distribution through print and
internet sites to intimidate Iraqi citizens and security forces.

Terror Group Aligned with PA Vows to Liberate the

Terror Group Aligned with PA Vows to Liberate the Galilee 16:05 Oct
16, '05 / 13 Tishrei 5766 By Scott Shiloh
A terrorist group aligned with the Palestinian Authority, the Al Aksa
Brigades has vowed to continue the armed struggle against Israel until
it liberates Judea, Samaria, Jerusalem and the Galilee."
The declaration was made in response to an interview given by IDF
Chief-of-Staff, Lt.Gen. Dan Halutz, to a French newspaper. Halutz told
the paper that the IDF was no longer targeting members of that terror
group because it had joined up with the PAs armed forces and was no
longer involved in attacks against Israel.
Calling the Galilee, occupied territory, a spokesman for the Brigades
said the organization would continue the armed struggle to liberate it.
The Galilee district, located in Israels north, has an Arab majority.
Not unlike Judea and Samaria, it is dotted with dozens of Arab villages
and densely populated cities, many located adjacent to small Jewish
communities. It was the focal point for riots and violent disturbances
against the Israeli government when the Oslo War broke out in
September, 2001.

The Disney security check is all complete, and I give it a thumbs-up. First off, you have to park at least two miles away, then you get on a tram to the main ticketing area. From there, you get on a monorail to the Magic Kingdom. I don't know any jihadis personally (nor do I ever want to), but I imagine that a majority of them have ADHD and would fall into the fetal position if they had to endure all this. We Americans and visiting Europeans are a tough bunch; we can handle these impositions.
Once you're at the main gate, your bags are thoroughly checked, and you have to have two fingers digitally fingerprinted. Disney workers claim it's so that no one tries to get in with your ticket; yeah, right ... Disney is tracking us down, gathering up all our purchasing history and getting ready to flood us with more marketing scams, er, ploys. They know where we live.
Disney's just not my cup o' tea. It's all fantasy - nothing about it is real. Sea World, at least for my family, is more real life. Heck, it has REAL animals, not animontronics. (My wife got a kick out of seeing cobwebs all over Disney's "animals" on the Jungle Cruise. She said, "Since they go to all this trouble trying to make these animals look real, the least they could do is clean up the cobwebs.") We spent 12 hours at Sea World and hated to leave; we spent five hours at Disney and couldn't wait to get the hell out of there.
In conclusion, jihadis likely will spare Orlando. Hearing "It's a Small World" would send them screaming into traffic on I-4, rendering their suicide bombs useless.
