The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Home grown Islamists may hit US: FBI chief
Full Story

WASHINGTON -- The United States could be attacked by "home grown" Islamist terror groups, the FBI's chief has warned.

FBI Director Robert Mueller told the London Financial Times newspaper in an interview published Thursday that the United States could face attacks from "home-grown terrorism" very similar to the July 7 bombings in London that killed 52 people and wounded another 700, Mueller said.

When asked if the United States could face such attacks from "home-grown groups", Mueller answered emphatically: "Absolutely, it could," the Financial Times said.

Atlanta police official calls incident "terrorist act".

Three explosive devices found in a courtyard between two Georgia Tech dormitories on the East Campus Monday morning were part of a "terrorist act," an Atlanta police official said. One of the devices exploded, injuring the custodian who found them inside a plastic bag. Two others were detonated by a bomb squad. The custodian suffered ringing to the ears and was treated at a local hospital. The events led to a temporary evacuation Monday morning. "It is a terrorist act at this point and depending on the outcome of the investigation it potentially could become a federal violation as well," said Major C.W. Moss of the Atlanta Police Department. The custodian found the three devices about 9 a.m. in a plastic-type garbage bag, Moss said. When he picked up the bag, one exploded, as it was designed to do when handled. The explosives were made up of chemicals placed inside plastic bottles and could have seriously injured someone, officials said. Numerous agencies were on the Georgia Tech campus to search for suspects. "It will be a joint investigation between the Atlanta Police Department, the Georgia Tech Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the FBI and the Joint Terrorism Task Force. Every possible lead will be followed," said Major Moss. About 100 students were evacuated from the Cloudman and Glenn dormitories, according to school spokeswoman Amelia Gambino.

Europe was put on a continental alert for avian flu yesterday as Turkey and Romania culled hundreds of birds and quarantined villages after reported outbreaks in both countries.

If this thing starts jumping from human to human the bodies are going to pile up like cord wood. IIRC, this virus has about a 50% morality rate. Read in the Washington Compost that 60 out of 116 infected died.

Just in case you guys haven't heard. On Friday, an "improvised explosive device" was found near UCLA.

"After responding to a call made at 11:13 a.m., the bomb squad arrived at 527 Midvale Ave. to find "an improvised explosive device" in the building's open-air courtyard, said Grace Brady, a spokeswoman for the LAPD."

Lets pray the "jump" to H2H morph doesn't transpire! If it does it goes to "RED ALERT" for me. The entertaining paranoia and conspiracy theories served their purposes but . . . All bets are off at that point. . . Being a survialist all my life will be handy to say the least.

Stay healthy all and keep the faith.

Legal Battles Continue for Bottle Bombers

Snip>>>>>

According to OPS??? 20-ounce plastic bottles were filled with a chemical compound and placed in trashcans and behind bushes by Knoblauch??? Stipes??? Morgan halls and Leslie F. Malpass Library.

Some people were hit by debris from the bottle bombs??? although no one was hurt. Jagielo said hearing loss and other more serious injuries could have been possible.

The alleged bombers were caught with the help of coincidence when a student had to interview someone for a class project??? according to Jagielo. The individual had to be newsworthy??? and the interviewee happened to be Holtz. When Holtz allegedly admitted the Oct. 29 bottle bombs??? the student went to a faculty member who reported the situation to OPS.

"He kind of felt burdened by the knowledge???" Jagielo said. "He did the right thing??? and he should be commended for that."

Still??? OPS suspected that at least one other person was involved with the bottle bombs due to the amount set off. When they questioned Holtz??? he mentioned Wilkie??? who was originally listed as a suspect.

According to Jagielo??? OPS confronted Wilkie??? and he readily admitted to helping with the bottle bombs.

"Wilkie and Holtz probably would have done something else (if they weren't caught)???" Jagielo said. "We appreciate the support we get from the students."

Jagielo said Holtz was more experienced with creating bombs and experimented with them at home. He also set off a pipe bomb on Sept. 25 in the third floor west stairwell in Corbin Hall. This bomb was a much more serious threat because it used gunpowder.

Wilkie??? according to Jagielo??? sought experience with the bottle bombs and took guidance from Holtz.

Wonder what they mean by "device". Seems odd to shut the whole place down for a small item, which tells me they are looking for more than just suicide/homicide bombers in subways in NYC.

First I've heard of an explosive device at UCLA. Are the fringe Jihadi's with minimal funds trying to do their part? What's going on?

Interesting discussion on your website. re: Why Atlanta?

Atta had friends there, I'd be willing to bet they are conspiring in a mosque somewhere in Atlanta as we speak, the same goes for many other cities. I wonder how many overdue visas are out there? How many are still coming here on student visas with ulterior motives.

I hate to say it but for the time being they should go to school in their own country. I'm sure there are great schools in the Middle East with all the money they have.

We're home. Broncos won. WooHoo!!

The drive home was a nightmare. Lots of snow and bad roads.

Trying to catch up with the TM. First place I head to after a trip.

What's up with all the "explosive devices"?

Darn good thing too. LOL :)

Good job by the Broncos.

Lot's of little booms, some with plastic soda bottles at Georgia Tech. Seems suspiciously related to OU only because Joel Jihad had plastic bottles in his car.

Some sort of explosive device found near UCLA.

And another "device" found in Atlanta closing down an intersection for several hours. [unknown what it was, but small like a mini flashlight] ??

Jihad wannabe's, mini jihadi's, practicing jihadi's??

Regarding NYC - I've been looking for this and finally found it-

Authorities Arrest Men With NYC Maps, Video
Five Men Detained in New Jersey, Set to Be Deported
July 26, 2005 — Five Egyptian men with maps of the New York City subway system and video of New York landmarks have been arrested by the Joint Terrorism Task Force in Newark, N.J., ABC News has learned.

FBI and law enforcement officials told ABC News the five men — four illegal immigrants and one law enforcement fugitive — were arrested Sunday night following a tip to the Newark Police Department. In addition to the subway maps and video, the men had train schedules and $8,000 in $20 and $50 bills.

The men were identified as: Karim Ahmed Abdel Latif Ahmed, 21; his brother Mahoud Ahmed Abdel Latif Ahmed, 19; Ahmed Mohamed Atta, 30; Mohamed Ibrahim Gaber, 34, and Mohamed Palat Anwar Jozain. When Newark authorities converged at the group's location at 246 Ferry St., Karim Ahmed answered the door and agreed to allow police to enter. Officers said they noticed the maps, and video cameras and Karim and his brother agreed to a search.

Karim said he had the maps because he had a new job as a street vendor. Initially, Karim said no one else was in the apartment, but police came upon the three other men upon further search.

FBI officials said the men have no known link to a terror network but noted that none of them could adequately explain the items they had in their possession, the large amount of money or their reasons for being in the United States. Mohamed Ibrahim Gaber has been a fugitive since he jumped ship from an Egyptian flagged freighter in September 2000.

The men, all of whom claimed to be unemployed civil or chemical engineers, are set to be deported by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
