The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Home grown Islamists may hit US: FBI chief
Full Story

WASHINGTON -- The United States could be attacked by "home grown" Islamist terror groups, the FBI's chief has warned.

FBI Director Robert Mueller told the London Financial Times newspaper in an interview published Thursday that the United States could face attacks from "home-grown terrorism" very similar to the July 7 bombings in London that killed 52 people and wounded another 700, Mueller said.

When asked if the United States could face such attacks from "home-grown groups", Mueller answered emphatically: "Absolutely, it could," the Financial Times said.

Islam permits killing of “infidel’ civilians: Zarqawi tape

Zarqawi: Islam permits the killing of "infidel" civilians. CAIR: Islam forbids the killing of "innocent" civilians. See the difference? CAIR and other self-professed moderate Muslim organizations in the West have simply not addressed Zarqawi's argument, or formulated any argument that will deter Muslims from committing violence in the name of their religion.

From AFP, with thanks to all who sent this in:

DUBAI - Al Qaeda frontman in Iraq Abu Musab Al Zarqawi has said Islam permits the killing of “infidel” civilians, according to an audiotape broadcast on the Internet early Saturday.
“In Islam, making the difference is not based on civilians and military, but on the basis of Muslims and infidels,” said the voice attributed to the fugitive leader who has a 25-million-dollar price on his head.

“The Muslim’s blood cannot be spilled whatever his work or place, while spilling the blood of the infidel, whatever his work or place, is authorized if he is not trustworthy,” said the tape, whose veracity could not be determined.

Thank you for the reservation info, I did not realize there were that many reservations in Montana.

Scott's mother was born on the Flathead reservation.

Once in America and with Indian papers, there would be no
trouble moving around.

It would be interesting to know who the owners of the motels are.........

It still upsets me that the witches have stolen the Angels and even the "Wee Little Men" of Ireland and the Fairies.

There are even sites that want to prove that the Angeles are messengers from the space ships..

"Al-Qaeda's Heathrow jet plot revealed"
UK Times ^ | Oct. 9, 2005 | David Leppard

Posted on 10/08/2005 9:05:22 PM PDT by FairOpinion

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "AL-QAEDA terrorists planned to hijack a passenger jet from eastern Europe and fly it into a packed terminal at Heathrow airport, killing hundreds of people, security sources have revealed. The plot, which was taken so seriously that ministers considered shutting down the airport, helps to resolve the long-standing mystery of why Tony Blair ordered armoured vehicles and hundreds of troops to be sent to Heathrow in 2003.

It has now emerged that MI5 received detailed intelligence in February 2003 about a two-pronged plan to target Britain because of its decision to send troops in support of America’s invasion of Iraq.

The second element of the operation, inspired by Osama Bin Laden, involved a mortar attack on a departing passenger plane. It was organised by Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the Al-Qaeda operations chief and mastermind of the September 11 attacks, the sources said."

ARTICLE SNIPPET #2: "Last year The Sunday Times obtained transcripts of Mohammed’s interrogation in the months after his capture in Pakistan in 2003. They show that the original plan for September 11 envisaged the hijacking of 10 planes, which were to be crashed into targets on the east and west coasts of America.

In the interrogation, Mohammed also referred to an unspecified plot against Heathrow designed to punish Blair, whom he said Bin Laden called his “principal enemy”."

He told his interrogators that Al-Qaeda operatives had been given money and told to begin surveillance of Heathrow, assessing its weak points and finding locations from which planes could be shot down."

"Terror Suspects Arrested in Britain"
October 9, 2005 12:00 a.m. EST
Denise Royal - All Headline News Staff Writer

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "London, England (AHN) – British authorities have arrested 10 Islamic terror suspects thought to be plotting multiple car bombings against targets in Britain in a “follow-up” to the July 7 attacks on London. The 10 men were detained in early morning raids in London, Derby and Wolverhampton.
They are suspected of being part of a terrorist cell led by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the notorious chief of Al-Qaeda in Iraq.

Law enforcement sources say it’s too early to say which targets the suspects may have been planning to attack or when they planned to carry out the attacks. Police sources say the operation was not directly connected to the investigation into the July 7 attacks in which 56 people, including the four suicide bombers, died.

The plot is thought to have involved the use of conventional explosives, probably to be loaded into cars and driven into crowded city centers."

If I remember correctly, a lot of the
mystical concepts in Wicca were derived out of the pre-Islam Middle
East. Take a look at all of the Middle Eastern mystical trapping of
Masonry for another example of a weird correlation. So it's not
surprising if they have some parallel development. You've got me
curious now...I will have to do some more research.<<<

Please do the research and keep me posted on what you find.

I am curious to find out if the connection to the masonry connection to them, is what makes people hate the masons so much?

I will have to pass on this search, the Angel search was one that I did one night, years ago, when I couldn't think of anything to google for, that of course was before TM. LOL

The other area the witch crowd has taken over, is our American Indian, ways of healing, prayers for healing and harvest, etc.

Over the years, I have found out the hard way, than what I
think is an interesting herbal group, etc is a witch group.

I found one group that made healing dolls, I joined, thought
it would be a good idea to make someone a small pretty cloth
doll and that you included a prayer to God in, and told them
it was a healing doll........harmless, but hopefully, if they looked at it, they would remember that I cared and wanted them to get well.......sounded real simple and loving to me...as I own things, given to me in love, that make me smile when I glance at them.

Then photos of their work were shared, of course some were lovely, and many were the uglist voodoo dolls, and I do mean
ugly, it is no surprise that people are afraid of them....

You're so correct about the enemies within, nw_granny!!<<<

On that I would gladly be wrong.

It is good to see your post, are you OK?

Has there been anything on the news in your area about the people that were shot at on the border? it is in post 1969,
on this thread.

My mind's first thought was some of the ACLU or the commie groups who want to keep the border open, had done it to start trouble, as I think the Minutemen may also be on the
border there, as I know they are in several states.

Of course, I could be wrong.

Thank you for the alert on the Heathrow story.

I don't recall the details, but a year or more ago, a man was arrested in a navy uniform at least 2 times, for boarding the British Navy Ships and Bases.

He simply dressed up and went where he wanted to go.

I do not know if we ever heard his name.

Will we now hear of a threat to the Navy Yards, as we did Heathrow?

For some reason this reminded me of the terrorist who smuggled himself into Italy in a shipping container in Oct. 2001.

Business-class suspect caught in container

http://www.papillonsartpalace.com/terrorisHS.htm

ITALIAN police were investigating last night why a suspected al-Qaeda hijacker would smuggle himself halfway around the world locked inside a shipping container with its own bed and toilet.

The bizarre discovery of an Egyptian carrying a Canadian passport was made on the dockside in Gioia Tauro in southern Italy, where detectives believe they may have foiled another hijacking.

They were questioning Rizik Amid Farid, 43, about his choice of travel and why he was carrying airport maps and airside security passes for Canada, Thailand and Egypt.

Another one:

'TERROR' ARREST. Muslim man held at Tobago airport with 'suspicious' powder, literature

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1499279/posts

Suspicious" substances and literature found in the luggage of a Muslim man about to take a flight to London from Tobago have triggered an international terror investigation.

The probe led police officers and their bomb-sniffing dogs to homes in rural Tabaquite and posh Gulf View, San Fernando. Using the power of search warrants, investigators seized a computer and telephone at the Tabaquite house on Friday night.

The 26-year-old man detained by police is a Londoner who came to Trinidad two months ago and was staying with his paternal grandmother, who lives off the Torrib/ Tabaquite Road.

Police said last night that they were acting on "certain information" when he was held by Immigration officers at Crown Point International Airport on Thursday. Police described him as being "a subject of interest" and said he had certain "literature" in his possession.

His arrest comes at a time when local security forces are investigating three bombing incidents in Trinidad and are on alert for a possible fourth bombing. He was in custody last night being interviewed by both local and foreign law enforcement officers, including members of the new Bomb Unit, the Special Anti Crime Unit of Trinidad and Tobago (SAUTT), Special Branch, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

British intelligence officials are also said to be involved because he is a British citizen.

This is a good article about Pakistan and how they are involved in Jihad. this is only a small part of the report.

http://ksghome.harvard.edu/~jstern/pakistan.htm

JIHAD INTERNATIONAL, INC.
If madrasahs supply the labor for "jihad," then wealthy Pakistanis and Arabs around the world supply the capital.
On Eid-ul-Azha, the second most important Muslim holiday of the year, anyone who can afford to sacrifices an
animal and gives the hide to charity. Pakistani militant groups solicit such hide donations, which they describe
as a significant source of funding for their activities in Kashmir.
Most of the militant groups' funding, however, comes in the form of anonymous donations sent directly to their
bank accounts. Lashkar-i-Taiba ("Army of the Pure"), a rapidly growing Ahle Hadith (Wahhabi) group, raises
funds on the Internet. Lashkar and its parent organization, Markaz ad-Da'wa Wal Irshad (Center for Islamic
Invitation and Guidance), have raised so much money, mostly from sympathetic Wahhabis in Saudi Arabia, that
they are reportedly planning to open their own bank.
Individual "mujahideen" also benefit financially from this generous funding. They are in this for the loot, explains
Ahmed Rashid, a prominent Pakistani journalist. One mid-level manager of Lashkar told me he earns 15,000
rupees a month -- more than seven times what the average Pakistani makes, according to the World Bank. Top
leaders of militant groups earn much more; one leader took me to see his mansion, which was staffed by
servants and filled with expensive furniture. Operatives receive smaller salaries but win bonuses for successful
missions. Such earnings are particularly attractive in a country with a 40 percent official poverty rate, according
to Pakistani government statistics.
The United States and Saudi Arabia funneled some $3.5 billion into Afghanistan and Pakistan during the Afghan
war, according to Milt Bearden, CIA station chief in Pakistan from 1986 to 1989. "Jihad," along with guns and
drugs, became the most important business in the region. The business of "jihad" -- what the late scholar Eqbal
Ahmad dubbed "Jihad International, Inc." -- continues to attract foreign investors, mostly wealthy Arabs in the
Persian Gulf region and members of the Pakistani diaspora. (As World Bank economist Paul Collier observes,
diaspora populations often prolong ethnic and religious conflicts by contributing not only capital but also
extremist rhetoric, since the fervor of the locals is undoubtedly held in check by the prospect of losing their own
sons.)
As the so-called jihad movement continues to acquire its own financial momentum, it will become increasingly
difficult for Pakistan to shut down, if and when it tries. As long as "Jihad International, Inc." is profitable, those
with financial interests in the war will work to prolong it. And the longer the war in Kashmir lasts, the more
entrenched these interests will become.
ADDICTED TO JIHAD
As some irregulars are financially dependent on what they consider jihad, others are spiritually and
psychologically so. Many irregulars who fought in Afghanistan are now fighting in Kashmir and are likely to
continue looking for new "jihads" to fight -- even against Pakistan itself. Khalil, who has been a "mujahid" for 19
years and can no longer imagine another life, told me, "A person addicted to heroin can get off it if he really
tries, but a mujahid cannot leave the jihad. I am spiritually addicted to jihad." Another Harkat operative told me,
We won't stop -- even if India gave us Kashmir. ... We'll [also] bring jihad here. There is already a movement
here to make Pakistan a pure Islamic state. Many preach Islam, but most of them don't know what it means. We
want to see a Taliban-style regime here.
Aspirations like these are common among the irregulars I have interviewed over the last couple of years.
The "jihad" movement is also developing a spiritual momentum linked to its financial one. Madrasahs often teach
their students that jihad -- or, in the extremist schools, terrorism under the guise of jihad -- is a spiritual duty.
Whereas wealthy Pakistanis would rather donate their money than their sons to the cause, families in poor, rural
areas are likely to send their sons to "jihad" under the belief that doing so is the only way to fulfill this spiritual
duty. One mother whose son recently died fighting in Kashmir told me she would be happy if her six remaining
sons were martyred. "They will help me in the next life, which is the real life," she said.
When a boy becomes a martyr, thousands of people attend his funeral. Poor families become celebrities.
Everyone treats them with more respect after they lose a son, a martyr's father said. "And when there is a
martyr in the village, it encourages more children to join the jihad. It raises the spirit of the entire village," he
continued. In poor families with large numbers of children, a mother can assume that some of her children will
die of disease if not in war. This apparently makes it easier to donate a son to what she feels is a just and holy
cause.
Many of these families receive financial assistance from the militant groups. The Shuhda-e-Islam Foundation,
founded in 1995 by Jamaat-e-Islami, claims to have dispensed 13 million rupees to the families of martyrs. It
also claims to provide financial support to some 364 families by paying off loans, setting them up in businesses,
or helping them with housing. Moreover, the foundation provides emotional and spiritual support by constantly
reminding the families that they did the right thing by donating their children to assist their Muslim brethren in
Kashmir. Both Lashkar-i-Taiba and Harkat have also established charitable organizations that reward the families
of martyrs -- a practice common to gangs in inner-city Los Angeles and terrorist groups such as al Qaeda and
Hamas. Although these foundations provide a service to families in need, they also perpetuate a culture of
violence.
BAD BOYS
The comparison to gangs and terrorist groups is particularly apt because the irregulars often hire criminals to do
their dirty work -- and sometimes turn to petty or organized crime themselves. Criminals are typically hired to
"drop" weapons and explosives or to carry out extreme acts of violence that a typical irregular is reluctant or
unable to perform. For example, members of the Dubai-based crime ring that bombed the Bombay stock
exchange in March 1993 later confessed that they had been in Islamabad the previous month, where Pakistani
irregulars had allegedly trained them to throw hand grenades and fire Kalashnikov assault rifles.
Law-enforcement authorities noted that the operatives' passports contained no Pakistani stamps, suggesting
the complicity of the Pakistani government.
Criminals joining supposed jihad movements tend to be less committed to the group's purported goals and more
committed to violence for its own sake -- or for the money. When criminals join private armies, therefore, the
political and moral constraints that often inhibit mass-casualty, random attacks are likely to break down.
Criminal involvement in the movement also worsens the principal-agent problem for Pakistan: pure mercenaries
are even harder to control than individuals whose goals are at least partly aligned with those of the state.
EXPORTING HOLY WAR
Exacerbating the principal-agent problem, Pakistani militant groups are now exporting their version of jihad all
over the world. The Khudamudeen madrasah, according to its chancellor, is training students from Burma, Nepal,
Chechnya, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Yemen, Mongolia, and Kuwait. Out of the 700 students at the madrasah,
127 are foreigners. Nearly half the student body at Darul Uloom Haqqania, the madrasah that created the
Taliban, is from Afghanistan. It also trains students from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Russia, and Turkey, and is
currently expanding its capacity to house foreign students from 100 to 500, its chancellor said. A Chechen
student at the school told me his goal when he returned home was to fight Russians. And according to the U.S.
State Department, Pakistani groups and individuals also help finance and train the Islamic Movement of
Uzbekistan, a terrorist organization that aims to overthrow secular governments in Central Asia.
Many of the militant groups associated with radical madrasahs regularly proclaim their plans to bring "jihad" to
India proper as well as to the West, which they believe is run by Jews. Lashkar-i-Taiba has announced its plans
to "plant Islamic flags in Delhi, Tel Aviv, and Washington." One of Lashkar's Web sites includes a list of purported
Jews working for the Clinton administration, including director of presidential personnel Robert Nash (an African
American from Arkansas) and CIA director George Tenet (a Greek American). The group also accuses Israel of
assisting India in Kashmir. Asked for a list of his favorite books, a leader of Harkat recommended the history of
Hitler, who he said understood that "Jews and peace are incompatible." Several militant groups boast pictures of
burning American flags on their calendars and posters

Thank you, I do not think that I read this one before.

I have read of several shipping containers that had Chinese men in them.

They say that some are very well equipped, stoves and all, others are simply containers with men, a little water and what ever food they can bring aboard, not much.

I could not travel that way, can't imagine being sealed in a box.

They have been adding extra security to BART and other areas of the city -- similar to NY, but maybe (my opinion) not as intense.

The jihadis have in the past focused on "sin" areas as targets.
I haven't read of anything new or different going on there.
