Philippine Police Intelligence Report: Abu Sayyaf To Use Women in Bomb Attacks
Report by Nancy C. Carvajal: "Abu Sayyaf to use women in bomb attacks, say police"
Philippine Daily Inquirer
Wednesday, October 5, 2005 T04:05:44Z
THE ABU SAYYAF GROUP (ASG), backed by the Jemaah Islamiyah, is set to deploy women in bombings in Metro Manila and other key cities, a police intelligence report said.
"ASG will utilize women muhahideens (sic) in the conduct of the (bomb attacks)," said the report sent from Camp Crame to local police units.
Mujahideen are Muslim guerrilla warriors engaged in a jihad or holy war.
The report identified targets as Metro Manila and the cities of Zamboanga, Pagadian, Kidapawan and Koronadal. The last four targets are in Mindanao.
The three-page report, a copy of which was obtained by, was disseminated to police units even before Saturday's Bali bombing.
Although the report did not specify how the women would be used in the attacks, it said that ASG leader Jaimal Sali, known as Abu Solaiman, had sent his lover to spy on and identify targets in Metro Manila.
The report identified Sali's lover as Hannah Daud, who also goes by the name Precella Adora.
"The ASG leader reportedly tasked his mistress to conduct casing operations in Metro Manila," the report said.
It said possible targets included commercial areas, embassies, seaports, airports, parks and malls.
An ASG member identified as "Yusop" and five others are reportedly already in Zamboanga City waiting for two boxes of explosives.
Fifteen more Sulu-based ASG members are expected to arrive to augment Yusop's group.
According to the report, a bomb attack on or before Fiesta Pilar on Oct. 12 will launch the series of bombings.
The Zamboanga City Cathedral was identified in the report as a target.
In Pagadian City, northeast of Zamboanga City, two ASG men have reportedly linked up with Moro Islamic Liberation Front Commander Akidin Abdulsalama to coordinate attacks.
The two men, the report said, bought an undetermined amount of explosives in the vicinity of Ticada Island, San Pablo, Zamboanga del Sur on Sept. 11, 2005.
The police report also identified ASG members Abu Ang and a certain Najib as participants in the attack.
"All the teams will make use of women warriors in the operations," the report said.
The police report said Jemaah Islamiya was providing support to the ASG but did not specify how.

"Italy Probes Internet Café Users"
ROME, Oct. 4, 2005
? (CBS/AP)

"This is a waste of time. Terrorists don't come to Internet cafes."
Silvia Malesa, Internet cafe owner
(Christian Science Monitor) This article was written by Sofia Celeste.
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Looking out over the cobblestone streets of Rome's Borgo Pio neighborhood, Maurizio Savoni says he's closing his Internet cafe because he doesn't want to be a "cop" anymore.
After Italy passed a new antiterrorism package in July, authorities ordered managers offering public communications services, like Mr. Savoni,to make passport photocopies of every customer seeking to use the Internet, phone, or fax.
"This new law creates a heavy atmosphere," says Savoni, his desk cluttered with passport photocopies. He is visibly irritated, as he proceeds to halt clients at the door for their ID.
Passed within weeks of the London bombings this summer, the law is part of the most extensive antiterror package introduced in Italy since 9/11 and the country's subsequent support of the Iraq war.
Though the legislation also includes measures to heighten transportation security, permit DNA collection, and facilitate the detention or deportation of suspects, average Italians are feeling its effect mainly in Internet cafes."
Thank you king of hearts.
Those are interesting posts.
The usual propaganda.
I hope you're having a good day and all is well.

Police Investigate New York Subway Terror Threat
Oct. 6, 2005 The New York City Police Department is investigating
what it deems a credible tip that 19 operatives have been deployed to
New York to place bombs in the subway, and security in the subways
will be increased, sources told ABC News.
While the police department is taking the threat seriously, it is also
urging the public not to be alarmed because while the source is
credible the information has not been verified.
According to sources in intelligence, emergency services and police
headquarters, when three Iraqi insurgents were recently arrested
during a raid by a joint FBI-CIA team, one of those caught disclosed
the threat. Because it slipped out during the arrest, the plot was
deemed credible.
After several days of work, sources said, the NYPD is increasingly
concerned because it has been unable to discredit the initial source
and additional information from the source.
The 19 operatives were to place improvised explosive devices in the
subways using briefcases, according to two sources.

Text Hackers Could Jam Cellphone Networks
nytimes.com:
Malicious hackers could take down cellular networks in large cities by inundating their popular text-messaging services with the equivalent of spam, said computer security researchers, who will announce the findings of their research today.
Such an attack is possible, the researchers say, because cellphone companies provide the text-messaging service to their networks in a way that could allow an attacker who jams the message system to disable the voice network as well.
And because the message services are accessible through the Internet, cellular networks are open to the denial-of-service attacks that occur regularly online, in which computers send so many messages or commands to a target that the rogue data blocks other machines from connecting.
By pushing 165 messages a second into the network, said Patrick D. McDaniel, a professor of computer science and engineering at Pennsylvania State University and the lead researcher on the paper, "you can congest all of Manhattan."
Professor McDaniel and the other faculty author, Thomas F. La Porta, have extensive experience in computer security, including work in the telecommunications industry. The findings are expected to be released today at Penn State, and as a formal research paper at a computer security conference next month.

"NYC Increases Subway Security After Safety Threats"
Thursday, October 06, 2005
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "NEW YORK Authorities were increasing mass transit security after word of a credible threat of a bombing on the city's subway system, a law enforcement official said Thursday.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity in advance of an official announcement, said the threat is "specific to place, time and method."
"Obviously, this is a significant threat," said Rep. Peter King (search), R-N.Y., chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee (search)."
Hopefully this has already been foiled. It's the attack plans we DON'T know about that worry me the most.
If we know about it, we can most likely stop it.

Thanks. I see we are hearing the usual snippets about the source being discredited, with others saying the source is trustworthy.
I understand.
OPINION: Evil hates being spotlighted by lights and sirens. This attack MAY have been prevented by shining the light and raising the alarm on this specific threat.
As for all the rest of the threats...
