Estimates of the numbers of gays in the priesthood vary from 25 percent to 50 percent. About one-third of the 42,500 U.S. priests are members of religious orders.

Really? So you think that the answer to homosexuality is to let them marry women?
Hmmmm. Interesting, but I really don't think it works that way.
I already said that the further a person follows temptation, from impulse, to embracing thoughts or fantasy is important when it comes to identifying with a particular sin.
But the fact remains that the Bibles teaches us that temptation itself is NOT SIN.
The Bible says Jesus Christ was tempted, yet WITHOUT sin.
Oh, geeze, I guess I forgot to add my 'sarcasm' at the end.
Aw well, we each have our thoughts, just because mine is not in line with yours, does not make me a bad person.
Shame about the 'frost on your cheese', maybe you should do something about that like lowering the setting of where ever you are keeping it.
Both of these links have a lot of information about the causes of homosexuality and how homosexuals can change. There are actually many thousands (who knows how many) of former homosexuals. The FR article below has a lot of info on the thread as well.

Some have said clergy are considering staging a strike on a Sunday, to show how critical gay priests are to serving the church.
I would doubt they would do this. Nothing like putting a big red X on their foreheads that they might be gay, just when the Pope has sent over a squadron of emissaries to ferret out gays in the seminaries. So, my bet is that a strike will not take place.
Truly, truly thoughtless and offensive and stereotypical.
He's not the first to ask this question. And after all we've seen over the past few years I don't find it all that unreasonable.
If someone wants to have sex with children they are by definition a pedophile. There is something wrong with them before they do anything to act on their desires.
The same goes for homosexuality. The more homosexual temptation a person feels, the more gay they are. If a person is like person 'B' in my prior example, they are extremely gay. This is the definition of gayness that the vast majority of people accept (therefore your statement above is false). I am not saying that people experiencing these feelings are 'sinful'.
All men are born with a sin nature.
Only a small percentage of men want to have sex with other men rather than women. Only a small percentage of men want to have sex with children. These classes of people exist even if you refuse to give them a name. I think almost everyone would agree that the latter group should be kept away from children. As the parent of a son who has considered attending a seminary, I think there are good reasons from keeping the first group away from seminary students.
So you see St. Augustine as a heretic, then? Maybe as a "wolf in sheep's clothing"?
I thought Hombre was being excessive. I was wrong. Sorry, Hombre.
I get most extremely reliable inside information that the number of active homosexuals in the Priesthood is very large. I mean Really Large. Names were named, though I will not share them. You would be deeply shocked.
Your post is interesting. The Scripture you cite can more accurately be seen as exactly contrary to your exegesis.
People's love will grow cold because iniquity shall abound? Iniquity abounds, that is for sure. Iniquity abounding is the cause of the cold hearts, not visa versa.

Excellent summary. My hypothesis and guess is that the Catholic ordained clergy in the US is probably 40% and focused in seminaries.
Boy, I sure didn't want to see it. Closed my eyes tight shut.
I agree. There has been a massive change in how society deals with the issue of being homosexual. It used to be a hush hush, even when I was a kid in the 60s. Now almost every sexual path you want to discover is open and approved of by at least someone in the media! As for booting out priests who do not advertise themselves as having a sexual orientation would be difficult and I think, not a good idea. A priest who is celebate and gives no indication of his orientation, meaning - he lives a chaste celebate life and is a good priest who does not give scandal to others in what he preaches, teaches or writes is not who should be booted out the door. That would indeed be the classic definition of a "witchhunt."
But, those who practice their sexual orientation or who look the other way to protect their friends or who teach seminarians that unless you experiment with sex before becoming a priest yada..yada..yada... you get the idea, should be disciplined, removed, etc.
Good reply, it's why we as Catholics are suppose to avoid the near occasion of sin. We are all tempted and we can either choose to continue to be tempted and then perhaps act on that temptation or we can slam the door on sin.
I agree as I have known at least one priest who qualifies.
