The destruction is so extensive that the photo almost looks blurry with only vague lines of distinction between properties or buildings.

Right - engineering has its limits but see my stilt pic in #135 and pick out the house you'd rather have been on a slab vs. stilts? ;-) Some of the newer construction around the gulf is 15' above mean high tide or more. The way they sink the pilings and tie everything together is impressive.
