The best part of the article. This ruling will not be appealed; therefore, it will stand as precedent for future LA actions.

From my cold dead hands Bitch!
The incompetent Dictator Kathleen Blanco issued emergency power orders which allow her soldiers the authority to confiscate firearms from citizens in violation of the
2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
"No one will be able to be armed.
We are going to take all the weapons," Riley said.
On Thursday, in the city's well-to-do Lower Garden District, a neighborhood with many antebellum mansions, members of the Oklahoma National Guard seized weapons from the inhabitants of one home. Those who were armed were handcuffed and briefly detained before being let go.
This could be you.

But the suit alleged that law enforcement officials overstepped the bounds by taking guns away in violation of the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. This suit probably wouldn't have gone too far if such a thing had occured in California. The 9th circuit court of appeals has ruled that the 2nd amendment does not guarantee an individual right to keep and bear arms. And California does not have an equivalent to the 2nd amendment in its state constitution. So we'd be pretty well SOL here from a legal standpoint. And attorney general Lockyer would be happy to help seize firearms.

New Orleans police can't disarm evacuees - orders weapons returned I've seen how LEAs return confiscated property. It ain't quick, it ain't polite, it ain't convenient, and the property is scarcely recognizable if the LEOs don't like you.

Just like a coward to deny that he ever gave the orders. Compass isn't fit to be dogcatcher, much less chief of police.

Problem is ...
No records.
You will have to prove you owned the gun before it is returned.

But the suit alleged that law enforcement officials overstepped the bounds by taking guns away in violation of the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. If this is correct, this is indeed a big win for the RKBA and the Second Amendment. Since neither the NRA's nor SAF's press released mentioned the grounds for the injunction, I was afraid it would be on unreasonable search and seizure grounds rather than the more stringent second amendment. "Unreasonable" can be subject to interpretation, "shall not be infringed", is pretty darn unambiguous.

This is good news about two gun groups co-operating and getting something done.
So how many Freepers are finally going to join the NRA because of this article? Remember, out of 80 million gun owners only 4 million belong.
Also, if you are already a member, please put the initials in your tagline.

But news reports quoted Compass as saying that only law enforcement officials would be allowed to have firearms and Deputy Chief Warren Riley as saying, "We are going to take all the weapons."
