SCARBOROUGH: Senator, how does New Orleans recover? How does Louisiana recover if you have another event like this coming in behind Katrina?
VITTER: Well, we are going to get through this. I am very hopeful that that sort of problem with the levees wont occur.
And then we will pick up where we were about a week ago, and get back to the gradual repopulation and recovery. We are trying to do our part in the delegation up here. Just today, Senator Landrieu and I dropped a major package, legislation for Louisiana recovery. And it covers a number of things, obviously some direct spending and appropriations. But, also, equally as important in my mind, is some real incentives to get businesses and jobs back....
SCARBOROUGH: What aboutwhat about getting control away from incompetent mayors and clueless governors? I know you have to be tactful. You are working with these people. But your mayor is just a joke. I mean, I have been very critical of the president, Republican president.
VITTER: Right.
SCARBOROUGH: This has nothing to do with partisanship. The guy is inviting 200,000 people back into New Orleans when you have got a major hurricane coming.
I mean, the president talks about billions of dollars going down there, but everybody I have talked to in middle America just doesnt trust New Orleans politicians, dont trust New Orleans politicians to spend.....
SCARBOROUGH: ....You have been working with Senator Landrieu...
VITTER: Right.
SCARBOROUGH: Did you ever ask her why she said she wanted to punch the president in the face?
VITTER: I have worked with Mary for a while, so I dont have to ask.
SCARBOROUGH: Did Marydid Mary ever consider punching the mayor of New Orleans in the face or the governor of Louisiana in the face?

(CROSSTALK)
SCARBOROUGH: Or at least splashing water.
I guess this is my question. This is what bothers me. How can you take a storm like this and become a partisan, try to play party politics...
VITTER: Well...
SCARBOROUGH: ... when people are dying in your state? Its just disgusting.
Amen!
Vitter was pretty damn quick to come out bitching about the Federal response after Katrina.
Unfortunately, Vitterand Jindal are just two commonplace Louisiana politicians. There must be some Republican in that state worth a damn.
Question to Scarborough: Who in the Republican side played party politics in the aftermath of the Katrina disaster? Name one official.
Jim McCrery?
"SCARBOROUGH: Oh, good lord."
Should be "Oh, Good Lord"
When is the US Secret Service going to through Mary Landrieu in JAIL!!!!!
No, even the dogcatchers are corrupt! It's a way of life in LA.
Quite frankly, I'm sick of Scarborough acting like he's the leading expert on all things Hurricane-related. Yeah, buddy. We know you're from Florida. He's really chafed me the last couple weeks. Just one more hysterical voice during a time when we need calm, cool, collective.
Read this thread: If the results weren't so tragic, it would be funny!

Defeat this scum his next election. I am sick I ever cheered his election win.
SCARBOROUGH: Did you ever ask her why she said she wanted to punch the president in the face? (LAUGHTER)
Ah, yes. Vitter finds the idea of the Senator from his own state, his counterpart in LA, threatening physical violence to the president funny. He brushes it aside. Scum.
I said, literally, that I had seen horrible scenes on the ground in Louisiana, and I had smelled sweltering stench, but none of that made me as sick as some of the things I heard out of Washington, the partisanship in the middle of all this.
What grade did you give the Fed response again Vitter? You are absolutely right. The politiking you played made us absolutely sick.
SCARBOROUGH: I dont understand how politicians can take a tragedy like that and try to politicize it.
Well, gee, Joe, you were a politician. You're now a TV host. Perhaps with your insight as a politician you can answer that question. Once you do, then perhaps you can answer why TV hosts, such as yourself, played politics, passed around lies and half truths, tried to instill panic in the masses then think you have any credibility.
Thank goodness for Fox, Geraldo and Greta not withstanding.
You mean other than Scarborough?
This is a typical liberal. They say they don't want to make it political, but even if they don't outright say it, they fill their comments with subtle innuendo against the feds. How can babies die of dehydration on the streets in America? - you know this was referring to the civic center which is all blamed on FEMA. I would have said because we had idiots in charge in the state that blocked the Red Cross from entering the city.
I really can't stand Vitter. He's trying to backpedal and act like a good little Republican now, but he still talks like an idiot. Look at him worrying about New Orleans, hoping the hurricane stays west. You IDIOT, NO is a ghost town, only morons would be in there right now. Would you please worry about the citizens of your state that are in SE LA and in the freaking direct path of the hurricane right now! There might even be some people that actually voted for you in trouble there!
Darn, I meant SW LA. Preview is your friend, doh.
Thanks! I sent that to a friend who is from NOL. He is always arguing politics with his rat family. This should give him some ammo!
Tragic is right. I'll be darned if I'll contribute anything beyond the careless expenditure of my taxes to that cesspool.
Thx,
mc
