"Odd even plates?"
Plates might be a good basis for an evacuation; something the authorities can see to enforce compliance.
To: Lemondropkid31
that is heavy rain.....red is tornadic winds etc...
the winds will pick up this afternoon and night....I thought they said 9pm local last night...might be different now.

"Perhaps one thing they could do in future evacuations is divide up the evacuation into smaller segments based on locale (neighborhood), first letter of last name, date of birth, or some such thing. "Finally got on FR late...but glad to hear Rita has been downgraded to a category3.
Democrats with last names toward the end of the alphabet would probably scream "discrimination" at your idea...though they'd be the first ones to evacuate.

I wasn't sure if anyone had seen/posted this news clip from KPIX San Francisco, about some of the soldier's supernatural experiences in the aftermath of Katrina.

1:03 P.M. - The NRA says that the United States District Court for the Eastern District in Louisiana today sided with the National Rifle Association (NRA) and issued a restraining order to bar further gun confiscations from peaceable and law-abiding victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. "This is a significant victory for freedom and for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The court's ruling is instant relief for the victims who now have an effective means of defending themselves from the robbers and rapists that seek to further exploit the remnants of their shattered lives," said NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre.

Ok, so the half of conroe that is not in the yellow is still going to get a lot rain and wind?
To: nwctwx
I've felt all along, since the storm went to Cat 5, that landfall was going to be a crapshoot as to where it was in cyclical changes. If it starts intensifying now, that is very bad, as it will make landfall on the upswing and carry stronger winds further inland.

A really great IR loop...shows the re-intensifying going on right now, and enough images to show the direction:

Nobody has to worry about anyone confiscating guns in TX after this passes. We have more guns than the cops, and the cops recognize the armed citizenry en masse as the militia and their backup.

I guess I'm just too simplistic, but it seems to me that NO proves that corruption kills people. It's not just a benign thing that politicians are corrupt.
To: ARealMothersSonForever
"3 evacuation zones"
That's still pretty large groups of people. I'm just suggesting ways it could be fine-tuned to reduce the huge backups. I'm not a nitpicker who thinks evacuating 1 - 4 million people is easy or can be done without traffic jams. There's sanctimonious nitpicking and there's constructive "criticism"; I'm trying to do the latter, not the former.
