Dangerous Hurricane Rita is expected to make landfall in the northeast Gulf of Mexico within 24 hours. Tornados have spawned in Louisiana. Water is filling the Ninth Ward of New Orleans again. A bus carrying elderly evacuees was gutted by fire this morning outside Dallas, with multiple fatalities. Television crews have positioned their hurricane reporters throughout the region to attain maximum drama effects. Whoooooa.

KTRK producer said Metro busses showed up at Humble, Texas....no food, no provisions....these are the people that were plucked from their cars....went from Houston to Dallas to Humble.
Across the bridge from Galveston is my #1750, Tiki Village.
pressure down 1 mb to 930 mb, max flight-level winds down 3
Someone earlier today asked this question and I missed the answer--if the pressure is down, shouldn't the winds be up? Is the storm getting weaker, or stronger?
I just love your introductory commentary. First class, all the way. Kudos! How naughty of you.
ROFLMAO!
come on over.
smells like...crap!
Thanks very much for posting the update and vortex data messages.
He is a journalist....greatest thing known to man...this hurricane doesn't dare harm dufus Smith..
He was searching for a parking garage to report from....seems there aren't any. Is he planning on standing in the middle of that street all night? Be still my heart....
Who's show? Get some source on this, please or ask the mod to take it down.
Ever-so-slightly weaker wind, ever-so-slightly stronger pressure between 3 pm and 6 pm (don't ask me about the translation between flight-level wind/minimum pressure and surface wind speed; that's beyond my abilities). The direction, if it continues, takes it just west of Sabine Pass (Texas/Louisiana line).
ROFL
Hey at least Shep is good for comic relief.
Boy Scouts are trying to cook for the evacuees at Humble Tx...
Called the police yesterday when we spotted some ner-do-wells scoping out the neighborhood. The police came pretty quick, but couldn't find them. We have had a pretty heavy police presence in the neighborhood since. Though my son said that when he was throwing the ball outside he saw some looters drive by with a big screen tv in the back of their truck. Me and my neighbors have been watching when we can. Can't watch all the time though.
You know it occurred to me that Shep might have a death wish...
Thank you! Nobody ever reads those on any of the threads. You are the first person to notice. Again, thanks.

I know He will never give me more than I can handle.
I just wish He did not have quite so much faith in me...
