ABLE DANGER [Kathryn Jean Lopez] In from Specter's committee office: Washington, D.C.--Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA), Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary, will hold a second hearing on Operation Able Danger on October 5, 2005.
In the initial hearing held on September 21, 2005, the Department of Defense refused to produce five key witnesses relating to the identification of 9/11 hijacker Mohamed Atta. The Department of Defense has now changed their position and will make the witnesses available in a public hearing. The Committee will focus on obtaining corroborating evidence as to what occurred with the pre-9/11 charts and information which were allegedly destroyed by order of DoD personnel.
I think these hearing were for show...a rope-a-dope to get this back into the news cycle. The MSM is going to do exactly what we expect them to...start foaming at the mouth over the "stall tactics", the folks at DU are already. I would expect there will be a few more Dem Senators that will be demanding hearings now, where they had no interest before. Given what we at FR know about the AD timeline, in the end, it's all going to come back to bite the Dems in the butt just in time for the next election.Posted by ravingnutter

...and a pretty damn good one too. Had people here worried.
The following is my post yesterday on another Able Danger thread.
I would like to attempt to answer the question as to why our Department of Defense, currently under Donald Rumsfeld, would want to stonewall this committee.
Is it possible that Bush (Rove?) is trying to create the suspicion that there is something damaging to the CURRENT administration, so that the Democrats and the media will begin to clamour, as the always do, for more information, sensing that they can damage Bush?
Then, when everything comes to light, no doubt revealing the culpability of the Clinton administration, it will have been brought to the fore by the Democrats' zeal to "get Bush" and cannot be painted as an attempt by Bush to "get Clinton".
If so, I say BRILLIANT!, BRILLIANT!
Is this possible?

Nice coordination with W coming back at Slick Willie in another article about BJ's failure to do something about terrorism and dead Americans during his 1990's 8 year orgy.
It could be as simple as that. Feeling somewhat blindsided by BJ, GWB orders the release of documents that will "help" Klintoon's legacy even more.
Ping! Don't know if you saw this or not.
Maybe DoD was playing Rope-a-Dope.
Another perfect Rovian Storm. Excellent.
I said the same thing yesterday in another thread.
I really hope this is a Rovian tactic to get more leftist media attention.
"Bush must have intervened to produce this change of course,"
you're absolutely correct.
"It's long past time that Bush stopped defending clinton from his treasonous malfeasances."
I continue to hope that Bush is not quite moronic enough to have been doing that. I believe rather that he was protecting his own administration against some damage. I'm quite certain, however, that the damage to the Bush administration will be very small compared to the damage to the Clintons.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the heads-up. While Weldon mentioned Cambone, he didn't go into any details so I was a little confused to how relevant this was. Thanks for the additional links and info.
"will Libs/Dems demand the testimony as they demanded the firing of Rove?
Not on your life."
Quite so. In fact, the entire story will have trouble making it into the news at all.
Assuming this is good news, the timing is positively Rovian.
You beat me to it.
"Good News and on to the Hearings, Part II"
Man, this is great news! I was worried there for a few hours. Things seemed stalled. Now once again, it seems like the cover-up will certainly fall apart.
"We did not find documentation on the after-action review mentioned by Berger."
As they say in the Guinness ads, "Brilliant!" All they needed to add was that they neglected to ask Mr. Berger what he took from the National Archives. Idiots.
If we want to be REALLY cynical, we may suppose that the initial DoD resistance to the testimony of these men was just a stall until the hurricanes passed and the media had nothing to divert them. ;)
Hey FJ,
I think it is always amusing when; tainted HIV infected blood, drugs&Mena, Ft. Marcy Park murders, Chinagate, filegate, travel gate and all bad things that have happpened to America. They always return to the point of origination.(Klintoon&crowd)
Good to see "W" put the shoe on the pig's cloven hoof. I'll Take My Stand,

Hey C,
Just think if the roles were reversed? Klintoon would have "W" in a Siberian Gulag.
Saying What Must Be Said,
