I'm afraid you're right. Debbie Schlussel has written another (yes, I said another) paranoid article. Hollywood probably isn't being pro-Arab. They're probably just reminding us of something most sane people already know - that all Muslims aren't terrorists. As though someone is going to say, "Wow. I was going to blow up the local mosque and start shooting my Muslim neighbors, but I saw "Flightplan" and I'm a changed man." Snicker. Snort.

Also, the movie itself has been getting mixed reviews from what are probably mostly liberal critics.

Oh for Gawd's sake! Just as all Muslims are not terrorists, so are all flight attendants and air marshals not bombers! Could anyone give the audience some credit for brains!

Yesterday I read the whole spoiler for this movie. I know the beginning, middle and end. Know what? I still want to see it. It's a thriller! It's a great story. When I got done reading it, I did not immediately decide all flight attendants were mad bombers, and all air marshals are terrorists.

I am so tired of people's hypersensitivity! I wear glasses...well, sometimes. Were any of the 9-11 victims optically challenged? They were? Well, then, I'm offended by any movie in which a bad guy is wearing glasses! I want my reparations!

Seriously, I think these kinds of posts (nothing personal) should come with a blinder alert. As in...put your blinders on and do as I say, think as I think, and ignore what I censor.

I think we ought to *spoil* it--find a way to publicize the ending.

If you do, please leave Free Republic out of it. It's better that you make a fool of just yourself, than embarrass the entire board. This movie sounds like a waste of time anyway. The only people who are probably going to like it are die-hard Jodie Foster fans who would flock to see her even if she were in commercial for septic tanks.

It just sounds like a bad movie. Jodie Foster only seems to do schlock these days (a la her last one, Panic Room.) Proving once again, that unless you are 25 and gorgeous, you are finished in Hollywood. As an actress anyway, in feature films. Kathy Bates has it right. Be who you are, diversify, cultivate a reputation as a character actress. Jodie Foster is yesterday's news.

Of course there are some fabulous middle-aged actresses doing amazing work. On HBO, and on Desperate Housewives, for instance...

I know quite a few of those, having had the misfortune of close contact with a celebrity (however third-string, unravelling, or hasbeen). Celebrity in the US is a disease, a pathology.

At some point, Hollywood is at least going to have to hear that there's a huge audience that doesn't appreciate being insulted, condemned, cursed at by these fatuous twerps.

They promote Michael Moore. They put little unfunny Republican jokes everywhere like product placement of Pepsicola. They raise money for disaster relief, but it's just an opportunity for a self-adoring Bush-hating rant. You'd be surprised how much of their donated time is eaten up in all the expensive perks they expect just getting to the theatre...

Spoiler alerts are one of those traditional considerations that conservatives would give to fellow conservatives. You might call it a form of ethical absolutism. Liberals expect that courtesy while extending none of their own...they are relativists enjoying the comforts of an absolutist protection.

I don't know how to bring it about--but if a thriller's premise is based on yet another insult to blue-staters...spoil it.

Aaron was wise to spend a mere 1 million on that wedding. Looks like he'll be shelling out more bucks down the line...

Good God, no! I'm definitely not starstruck. In fact, I'm quite cynical about it. Now, I do admire entertainers for their talents but I couldn't care less about what they wear or who they are dating or when they had their appendix out.

All the more reason for the left to understand that there's an unhappy audience looking for better alternatives. These days, I've been surprised at what I can watch through Netflix and archives of HBO-type television. I don't watch any TV series except on DVD--just last month I discovered Firefly, which is the best thing I've seen or heard in ages. I'm watching Gilmore Girls--and they're even allowed to have this cranky evangelical Korean lady and her daughter. The daughter is being raised rather too strictly, but the treatment is still respectful. No one is trying to tie the mother to a stake or ride her out of town or even make cheap jokes.

Things are happening, in many ways because an audience doesn't mind blowing raspberries and throwing tomatoes.

I think the latest Foster will dwindle because it's a repeat of that movie where she had the chronically ill (the child has to always have diabetes or asthma, whatever to heighten suspense when the meds are unavailable) daughter in this closet with bad guys outside. I kept thinking, in that movie, that a simple pistol would have been mighty handy, but not politically correct. Foster as Uber Tigress Protecting Sick Cub was old the first time around.

Jodie Foster is a classic example of a Hollywood test tube baby, ie., Jodie was literally raised within the twisted warp liberal Hollywood studio system from her toddler days starting withe a twisted upbringing by her warped mother(on/off lesbian) all the way to being brain washed along the way by studio administrators and handlers.
Poor Jodie, she is so infatuated with all things French never realizing as a child she was passed around like a loaf of cheap French bread among the depraved immoral Hollywood adults who shaped and formed her mind.

One thing she learned, mastering manipulation.

Foster may be academically intelligent and even Sunset Blvd. street smart BUT she is woefully out of touch with all things American, main stream every day American life.
