WASHINGTON - The Jefferson Parish president's emotional retelling of a mother's desperate calls from a New Orleans nursing home included details that conflict with the timeline of the tragedy.
The story, of a colleague's mother begging her son for rescue as flood waters rose after Hurricane Katrina, came to prominence on Sunday, Sept. 4, when Aaron Broussard, president of Jefferson Parish in New Orleans, was interviewed by Tim Russert on NBC's Meet the Press. (MSNBC is a Microsoft-NBC joint venture.)
New details and interviews with the son whose mother died in the flood show that the tragedy unfolded from Saturday through Monday, Aug. 29 not Monday through Friday, Sept. 2 as recounted by Broussard. The owners of the nursing home were indicted Tuesday for the deaths of more than 30 residents, which officials say occurred on Aug. 29.

Rodrigue said he didnt see or hear Broussards comments on Meet the Press. When told of the sequence of phone calls that Broussard described on Meet the Press, Rodrigue said No, no, thats not true.

Beat me by 10 seconds. It was so apparent that there was something fishy from the get-go of the interview when Broussard came out reading from a script. And the tears so obviously crocodile. We will of course expect Timmy to do a followup on this story next Sunday on MTP, no?

This is a hard one. How can any media protect the viewers from someone coming on a show and spouting lies?
Well, they can verify later and issue corrections. But, it takes an awful lot of resources to verify everything said by all talking heads on TV.
Hmmmm.....at some point, you need to trust the people in power coming on a show.

Broussard simply played for the camera and mr. potatohead. He lied to further the rantings of the luntic left that has taken over the democratic party.

Russert will ignore it. CNN played the tape over and over too. They will ignore it. Even to make the competition look bad, CNN will not risk alienating their "it's all Bush's fault" audience.
It never happened.

They had a duty and a standard of care to people who could not care for themselves, Foti said of the owners. If you or I decided we are going to stay, we do it of our own free will. ... The people at the nursing home dont have that choice. I imagine everyone's heart goes out to the elderly who suffered and died. Terrible.
'Course, the Dems are pro-choice. Which means that if you provide a nurturing environment for helpless people, and then Choose to have them die, it's no big deal.

I'm really getting tired of the public being manipulated by a bunch of brainless liars.

Cut the guy some slack...it's New Orleans we're talking about. Maybe his mother was doing some of that voodoo crap and was calling him from the "great beyond"...

New details and interviews with the son whose mother died in the flood show that the tragedy unfolded from Saturday through Monday, Aug. 29 not Monday through Friday, Sept. 2 as recounted by Broussard Does this mean NBC & MSNBC will stopped repeating this lie??

I know if it were my 90 year old mother, I'd make a phone call, then entrust her life to a couple of nursing home operators instead of making sure she was evacuated.
That's what I'd do, at least.

Problem is, Free Republic as well as many in the blogesphere have been aware that this story was an outright lie since a few days after it was aired on MTP.
I sent it to Drudge over and over to no avail. It's taken at least two weeks to get the truth out when it was debunked from the beginning.
I'm still waiting for those 10,000 bodies to show up. What about the rapes, murders and mutilated bodies in the Superdome? It has all become urban legend now. The truth takes a backseat when the media goes into overdrive to distort it.

I guess if Terry Schiavo had been in that nursing home then someone might have been charged with murder or neglect? Yeah, right.

I would imagine that Mr. Rodrigue would like to b*tchslap Mr. Broussard right about now. How disgusting!

Given that this was a pre-storm incident, didn't Broussard have a big share of the responsibility given his parish presidentship? What exactly is his culpability in all this? Was his MTP story the result of a misunderstanding or was it a brazen atempt to deflect blame?

Jefferson Parish's Email is still down. Want to ask Broussard a few questions.
