One more thing folks. Just before the weather hits flush all your toilets several times and use only the one closest to the sewer line. If flooded it will only back up cleaner water.

HC, I never would have thought of that. Cheap insurance.

As long as JJ is alive he will be stirring up trouble. Now, if we could just come up with a counterpart.

They just showed Nothin Nagin on Fox saying the Admiral is a 'good man, but when he starts talking to the citizens of NO he is out of his (lane/ League?)' and "there is only one Mayor of NO, and that is me."

Dang---why did you send those thoughts to Jesse???? lol

BTW...on Brit's show there was a clip of Nagin answering a question about Adm. Allen...he said, "Adm. Allen is a good man, but when it comes to talking to the citizens of NO, he is out of his league...I am the Mayor here!"

WHOA...check out THAT ATTITUDE!!!!

I'll be around... I actually was at home, and away from my computer. I decided it was a good time to do the weekly reading for class.

I was keeping up with the storm via news outlets... I can't believe it's heading towards the western GOM. There's still a lot of heat out there, hoping we don't see another monster at landfall. I do think we see a Cat4/5 at some point though. This has been a GOM year, one that will certainly be remembered for a long time.

PMSNBC reporting that long lines of cars are attempting to get back into NO. Likely on the first word of the mayor for Heaven's sake. This with a new and unpredictable Hurricane moving into the area. Somebody should bring some rope and string Nagin up before he kills many more people.

Hey, could somebody suggest that we put our location in our taglines...at least until Rita is disposed of one way or another?

[Late to the thread. Sorry if it's already been suggested.]

And if it doesn't hit Texas, the looney left will say it was Halliburton and Bush's oil friends that stopped it, and sent it to LA, or wherever?

Even if Texans were permitted to loot they wouldnt.
Those few who did would make good target practice.

I am with you for certain on this one! The blame game has got to stop! I am totally convinced that the reason things started out on such a blaming/negative type of onslaught in NO is because of the totally corrupt government within that city and state. The MSM fed right into it because of their hatred for President Bush. You know - the old "the best defense is a good offense" thingy?

Don't worry about it. We (the staff of easternuswx.com) have discussed it in private several times. I've 'known' DT online for about 7 years, and I have had my run ins with him over that time. I met him in July at a weather conference we held... he is much nicer in person. ;-)

Glad you are enjoying the info presented over there. We have seen massive increases in viewership this summer, and have a great collection of meteorologists posting now. Unfortunately, we have also gained attention from some hackers... and we had to close down guest viewing for now. Hopefully it will be back up soon, I personally don't like 'forcing' people to register.

How much of an issue would flooding be?

I really don't know, I know there is a comparatively new drainage system
in place in Pearland but I've never paid attention to how well it works.

Mom just recently moved there, I guess we might just find out how well the drainage works soon.
