Tropical Storm Rita has developed from TD 18 in the Atlantic Ocean. TS Rita is currently located north of Hispaniola, the eastern tip of Cuba, and ESE of Nassau, Bahamas. Hurricane watches and warnings are in effect for portions of Florida. Check for local weather statements.

I'm in the Cypress area. Flooding will be a concern along the creeks, but there has been a lot of drainage work done out here over the past 3-4 years.

In the event of water service failure, pool water or ditch water can be used to flush toilets.

Thanks for the ping. My elderly gran lives in Lake Jackson and we already have arrangements to evacuate her if need be. It's kind of hard imagining the storm surge reaching all the way to Angleton.

Willie I love you like a brother but you're weired! ;-) On the other hand I was born a Scotch drinking Presbyterian so it just comes naturally to me.
