Can't believe we have another possible nightmare on our hands. I'm ready for winter.

Said by a man who has been away from the computer for a few days...

She became VERY anxious when she heard we are under hurricane warning here in Miami.

Poor thing. I can imagine how she felt.

I'm down here now. I'm planning on boarding up a bit tonight and tomorrow. I got permission to work from home for awhile, so spending Tuesday and Wednesday here is cool.

Wednesday night, I'm stuffin' the truck and headin' to Sugar Land.

Prediction is bound to create multiple arguments on different fronts. DT has been out of hand, and as one of the folks who runs easternuswx.com, I can assure you we are trying to work on it. If anyone has followed it for a long time, they know he has always been like that... we can only do so much outside banning him.

I used to work part time (second job) in the club above Jimmy Walkers back then. My husband and I gathered up all our friends to come stay in our house for Alicia and we were playing poker and drinking tequila having a grand ole time. An ex-roommate called from Nassau Bay scared out of her wits and we were dumb enough to pile in the van and go fetch her. Going down Nasa Rd. 1 with giant waves washing over the van. It was the biggest tube ride ever. I would not recommend to anyone a repeat performance of what we did. That was when Nasa 1 was under construction and there were orange barrels flying everywhere. Busted the windshield out on the passenger side by a downed tree on Todville. Stupid, stupid people we were. Thank God we weren't hurt.

I'm ready for winter.

A wooly bear caterpillar climbed across my foot this afternoon while I was outside waiting for the school bus - it had a huge black stripe down it's back.........

I know what you mean. Hopefully most of us who saw the devastation of Katrina will heed the warnings and make their preparations early so that the strain on resources won't be so bad. This will make us stronger in the long run. We have learned a lot from the mistakes made but one thing is sure, the church has stepped up to the plate and is doing a wonderful job. God is big enough to handle all of our needs. We just have to depend on Him while doing what we are each able to do.

We need someone in your area to help us - let me see if I can find a Cypress area freeper........

I used to live in Cypress and there isn't any danger of flooding unless perhaps you live next to a drainage canal. The danger is from flying debris and tornados as well as falling trees.

A direct blow is almost certain to cause power outages. When Alicia hit, most of Cypress and the Champions area was without power for over a week. No ice, no A/C, just steam and mosquitoes.

Thanks. I hope it goes well with you, too.

And, no, I didn't talk to any one. I just walked outside, faced ESE, put my hands on my hips and put on a really scary, scowling face.

So far it looks like it worked. I'm glad it changed course when it did 'cause I was getting tired.

One more thing folks. Just before the weather hits flush all your toilets several times and use only the one closest to the sewer line. If flooded it will only back up cleaner water.

Well, when you consider that 2 of the parishes...the ones with Broussard and Nagin as the leaders, have idiots..what makes you think the rest aren't just as stttoooopid? LOL

And look at the dagum Governor for crying out loud..it is a wonder that state is working AT ALL!

Doesn't it tell you how much the media cares about the truth...when on the same day that Broussard is shown to be a liar...Chrissy STILL asks him on his show as an "EXPERT"???

Warm beer ain't pretty, but I can stomach it if I have to...
Scotch... well... let's just say you might as well forget the fondue and put the sterno to better use.
