Thank you for the tips - I live in Tornado Alley so I've kept pictures in zip lock bags for years! I live in a new subdivision so fortunately (normally we say unfortunately) we don't have large trees yet......... I have a gas grill - the jugs of ice are a good idea - I'm thinking of consolidating all freezer items into the garage freezer in the almost certain event we lose power......... they will stay frozen longer due to the freezer being full, and if they go bad at least it won't be inside the house............

I've been lurking there following hurricane projections and I must say there are some combative, snippy personalities posting there

Let me guess...you are talking about easternuswx.com, right?

I likewise lurk there and never fail to be amazed by the lack of civility. That DT guy is a piece of work -- and the folks who suck up to him are something else as well. But then, blizzard24 would try anybody's patience, I guess.

The act has to be growing old to most people, I would think. He's the mayor of Waterworld with no people in it. Oh... you forgot to put "stupid" before "thug."...:-)

Good point. Jeb and Nagin might as well be in different universes. Jeb is acting like a governor. He is busy doing his job.

Also, Jeb giving information and instilling confidence.

Nagin acting arrogant and wishy-washy (an amazing combination) and giving NO information.

One of these things is not like the other, one of these things just doesn't belong....

CNN just sent this out as a breaking news email:

-- New Orleans mayor Ray Nagin suspends return of evacuees to the city, citing the threat from strengthening Tropical Storm Rita.

That is a good list....but, if I lived in the Houston area, all I would need is my key to my car...to head NORTH...

I live 50 miles inland in Ft Bend County. I will send my wife, daughter and mother in law to far NW Harris County to stay with my sister in law if this thing comes close or if it gets big to Austin to stay with my sister. My son and I will stay put. There is no chance of water higher than a couple of feet and it will run off fast.

My area of town is where the weather guys usually go to show the water washing over Todville road

I've stopped at the Harris County library there several times to use the wireless Internet access. I assume you have plans to head out if it stays on track?

I need to get out a map. My sister is in League City and I'm thinking that is near Seabrook, correct?

Back in the '70 my dad used to take us crabbing to Kemah, man was I surprised when we visited there in 2000! Times have changed...real nice little (yet crowded) community.

Good luck!
