Roberts Reveals His Favorite Movies
2 hours, 22 minutes ago
After two days of intense legal questioning, Supreme Court nominee John Roberts finally addressed a subject most Americans could relate to: His favorite movies are "Doctor Zhivago" and "North by Northwest."
Frustrated by Roberts' answers, Sen. Charles Schumer (news, bio, voting record), D-N.Y., suggested on Wednesday that if he dared to ask the nominee his favorite films, he would get a discussion of cinematography and why "Casablanca" is considered one of the greatest.
Instead, Roberts answered flat out, bringing laughter from the audience and senators alike.

ROTFL!
You're being waaaaay too kind! The amazing thing is that, as breathtakingly moronic as Chuckie Cheese is, he actually seems only mildy retarded compared to Joe Biden. Throw in Ted Kennedy, and you've got yourself a real brain-trust.
"Schumer is doing a great job at these hearings...at making himself look like a complete moron."
The one job for which he is TRUELY qualified!
Fell asleep during Dr. Zhivago and North By Northwest is my fourth favorite Hitchcock. But at least the man is thinking.
Vertigo is not only the best movie ever made, it is among the greatest works of art in human history.
I have spoken. Case closed.
I do like Vertigo a lot, but I gotta say North by Northwest is still a better piece of art.
Ack!! Until Princess Brise you just listed MY favorite movies!!
My oldest boy has the same sense of humor. Two years ago, he gave me list of the DVD's he wanted for Christmas. Almost everything on your list was on it. The kid that was helping me find the moviesa at some mall DVD store turns to me and says "This person has a sick sense of humor!" And I said "Yeah, just like his Mom." LOL
"Monty Python and the Holy Grail" is an overrated film that contains lots of funny bits but suffers from the lack of a proper ending.
The Broadway stage show, on the other hand, I highly recommend.
Stalag 17??
(Great on stage, BTW!!)
Since I've only seen two of those six, does that make me wishy-washy?
Doctor Zhivago is a visually beautiful film, but the story is less interesting and sometimes hard to follow. It stills from the film would make for a great coffee table book.
Yeah.
All the Charles Bronson vigilante flicks...
The problem is that most of the best screen Nazis have, ironically, been portrayed by Jews. So, therefore, one could say that enjoying films where these Nazis get the snot beat out of them could make you anti-Semetic. At least by liberal prof/CNN commentator logic. However, that would probably be seen as a good thing.
"The Third Man" may be the most perfect picture in every category ... script, acting, cinematography, direction, soundtrack ... that has ever been made, IMHO. I'm glad to see another fan of it here.
Schumer is a schmuck.
The Birdcage? Now, that was funny!
