Just reminded me of the NYC blackout a few years ago. I don't think they ever found out the cause.

Sean Penn mistakenly shot a transformer in his backyard trying to hit a critic. Still a little water-logged from his Gilligan days down in NO. "Just sit right back..."

Al-Qaida tape said to threaten attacks on LA, Melbourne

Monday, September 12, 2005 at 07:08 JST NEW YORK — In a communique coinciding with the fourth anniversary of the Sept 11 attacks on New York and Washington, a suspected al-Qaida operative has threatened attacks against Los Angeles and Melbourne, ABC News reported.

"Yesterday, London and Madrid. Tomorrow, Los Angeles and Melbourne, God willing. At this time, don't count on us demonstrating restraint or compassion," the 11-minute videotape reportedly warns.

"Have they started looting in South Central yet?"

If that happens all we're gonna hear is "George Bush doesn't like black people and hates migets".

With the budget deficit out there my guess is the state stopped paying the light bill.

If the power isn't restored by nightfall, the looting will start... watch.

A bit optimistic, eh? :-/

If there's an earthquake, no doubt they will rename the San Andres Fault to Bush's Fault!

It seems to much of a coincidence

That's what Fox News is speculating on now.

Well, obviously the stress level is going to rise in the LAPD, so let's send a third of them to Las Vegas for the weekend.

Most of Los Angeles county is Hispanic. Bush did this on purpose to hurt the poor. I bet all the white people have power. (sounds familiar)

Major power outage hits Los Angeles
Mon Sep 12, 2005 04:27 PM ET

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A major power outage hit Los Angeles area on Monday and officials scrambled to determine the cause.

"There's a major disruption," Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells said. "It's a widespread power disruption."

A spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power said it was not immediately known how many customers or businesses were without power but that the utility was trying to pinpoint the problem.

"We are trying to get a handle on it," spokeswoman Kim Hughes said, adding: "We think it's a transmission problem."

A spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department said outages were reported across downtown Los Angeles, Koreatown, North Hollywood, Burbank and in the San Fernando Valley. Officials said power had not been lost at Los Angeles International Airport.
