New thread with updated links for NC/SC/VA
Yesterday they said it was heading back out to sea and was no longer a concern.
Thanks for this thread, NN
This is the real reason Michael Brown was removed from Katrina.
The NHC has now put Wilmington NC in the crosshairs, but they're still just guessing! Of the leading computer models, two have landfall in South Carolina, two in North Carolina, and two in Virginia. NHC just splits the difference..
Charleston, SC here . . . . prayers for those up north.

Why wont you post the cone graphic at the head of the thread that updates as the storm moves? I see you posted it on the other thread, but a couple of pages in.
As someone who has used FR (and I mean up to the last minute before I bugged out on Frances) when hurricanes were coming or threatening, I can tell you that graphic is one of the first things I looked for.
Whoever used to do the threads had that graphic. It might have been "nwtx" or whatever his handle is.
If it was at the top of the thread it made things much easier. Just hit the hurricane thread and there it was.
I guess I could try to post it, but it wouldn't be at the top of the thread where it needs to be by the time I tried.
Ok.. I Figured out how to do it. Still not at the top of the thread where it should be.
Bump to track.
Thx,
mc
Thanks for the links. I'll hope the GFDL model is totally incorrect. Glued to the 'puter checking things, first time in a hurricane area. Earthquakes are easier to take, you never know they are coming and they're over before you know they happened, lol.
I'm hoping this thing is about 300mi off the MA shore on Saturday so I can get some surfing in down at Nauset beach.
Here's a webcam in that area. It's one of the early piers that got wiped out in a previous hurricane. Jennette's Pier. Looks like surf's up.
Someone on another thread said they're storm-seasoned and well-prepared down there. I guess so.
Was down there June/July for a hugh family reunion, 14 adults, 14 granchil'rens.
Stayed a a little ways down from Nag's Head Fishing Pier on S. Virginia Dare. Great house right on the beach, great time, wish it could lasted a lot longer. Hope it survives, would love to go back.
Picked up some yummy bacon-wrapped scallops at the fish market Austin Fish Co. down the street. Almost every square inch of their are walls are covered with pictures of previous storms. Even if you don't like seafood, it's worth it to go in and look at their pictures.
Saw the wreckage of another (Jennette's) fishing pier further down, the one with the fish museum, when we went out to a seafood restaurant across the street from there down on Croatan (sp?).
My sister lives in Raleigh/Durham and she usually arranges our family reunions, so they've mostly been on the outer banks.
Here is your storm thread. Someone is bored being stuck inside.
Sorry for the large picture.Meant to post the link and messed up.

Here's the link to their general hurricane page
Back to work, huh? Are you well rested?
Do we know how many freepers might be affected by Ophelia, yet?
I just found out last night on another thread, that a freeper STILL is waiting to hear from a friend and an uncle, from Katrina....
So much for the local weather guy here who said just yesterday that Ophelia is going to blow out to sea and would not be a threat to the U.S. Yeah...right....
I know I'm a bit of a latecomer to this thread, but Ophelia will significantly alter some beach profiles.

Rain gage just went past 1 inch. Still low clouds, gusty wind now and again with light scattered rain. No big deal.
Police scaner reports a few cars (traffic) flooded out in the lower sections of town with a few cars off the road here and there in the ditch.
Fire/Rescue traffic is about normal.
