Hurricane Ophelia continues to churn off the off the coast of the Carolinas with a track that has confounded computer models and meteorologists for days. Hurricane watches are issued for much of the SC and NC coastline. Northern GA and southern VA coastal areas are currently within the three day cone of uncertainty. Check local NWS service for updates.

LOL!
It's not going to be anything terrible, but a long period of heavy rain and wind. The storm will either be holding its own or strengthening as it nears that area though, so it may not always be pleasant. The longer it rains, the more chance trees/etc. will start coming down.
Repeat after me:
There's no such thing as a bad day at the beach.
There's no such thing as a bad day at the beach.
There's no such thing as a bad day at the beach...
And, have a Happy Birthday!
I certainly hope this storm speeds up. Even though it can't decide whether it wants to be a strong tropical storm or a weak hurricane, I wouldn't want to be subjected to it for a couple of days.
Yup: that's exactly the problem with this one. If the tropical storm force winds define the 'boundaries' of the storm (for pratical purposes let's just assume that for a moment), and those boundaries extend 160 miles from the center, then it is certainly possible to have near continuous rain - often heavy - for two solid days over a wide area of Eastern NC.
It sounds like you'll be in need of some R&R when she's (gbaby) here. My wife had four and each one was pretty straightforward. I guess that's easy for ME to say ;)
Hurricane Ophelia is kinda tearin' my nerves up. We have to put off a lot of work until after she passes by, so I'll probably be playing catch-up after Thursday. I don't mind workin' but with the She-hag and Medusa here at the same time I'd rather be a-FReepin'. I say NIMBY to them!
Are any of you in the path of Ophelia? Hope not...
I certainly hope she "makes the turn." If not, we could be looking at Floyd all over again.
At least we will be getting a lot of rain if she fails to turn....I note she is still heading NNW.
Agreed. We sorely need the rain but can do without the wind...
When is she SUPPOSE to turn??
FNC just said that Warner has declared a state of emergency or Virginia.
Not a criticism of any kind, but note how the governors are being very visible after Katrina.
Here is your storm thread. Someone is bored being stuck inside.
Who has cabin fever already?
Prouddvldog. He is stuck in barracks. Probably wouldn't bug him but he has to stay in. LOL
I understand your point - and it is very true.
I've had cabin fever since early July - of course it has absolutely nothing to do with hurricanes :)
