A Fox reporter in NO was asked on air what it was like now in New Orleans. She replied that aside from the horrible stink from sewage the air is full of the mournful cries of cats and dogs dying of thirst, hunger, and injuries as they stand on roof tops and drag themselves along the roadways. They don't know why they have been left to die. So sad.
Please... also give to animal rescue organizations! Thanks.
It may be cruel, it may be brutal, but if it's true, you can say it.
LOL, I'm not sure...but I do know I wouldn't want to meet either of those three in a dark alley...
Shepherds, like most other larger breeds may succumb to hip dysplasia; however, the reputation Sheps have for this condition is largely the result of indiscriminate breeding. In the Post-WWII era, Sheps spiked in popularity in the US and a lot of breeders irresponsibly cranked out puppies just to make sales and a lot of genetically weak dogs were bred. A select few aficionados put principle ahead of profit, but a lot of Shepherd lines still remain prone to dysplasia as well as allergies and various skin conditions. The breed was reinvigorated after the fall of the Soviet empire when fresh blood lines became available in the west. My dog's sire was a Czech import, and checked in at a whopping 125 lbs (massive for a GSD). My boy checks in between 105-110 depending on time of year, how recently he ate, and how recently he got rid of what he ate....
I admire cats...damn near the perfect predator/hunter.
Check out #51.
I understand my fried.
I don't know your situation, but if you don't have a dog now, you ought to get one if at all possible. Dogs are probably the closest thing to "good" humans, as far as loyalty and friendship, without all the griping and complaining.
No doubt, there are other Rocky's out there, looking for a good buddy to spend his days with. Maybe even a sad Rocky that like you, lost it's beloved friend who happened to be human.
Can anyone recommend an organization involved in the actual rescue of these animals?
Er, My "friend".
Are the lighter colored pets being rescued more quickly?

Of course. Institutional Racism.
Re your post 21, you sound like a real sweetheart.
"Maybe even a sad Rocky that like you, lost it's beloved friend who happened to be human."
Thank you for your thoughts.
I can relate to what you said.
How did you get that Pic of Pelosi?
That's not a fair question, since that is officially the World's Ugliest Dog!
You know someo people on this thread are not the least bit upset over the owners being pulled by force out of their houses and now they are all upset over a dog. Morons
At the suggestion of writer Michelle Malkin last Friday, I have cobbled together a blogsite called Texas Clearinghouse for Katrina Aid to serve as a clearinghouse for refugee efforts in Texas.
Texas is getting more refugees than any other state -- that's fine, we'll take them all -- but we need help providing them with food, clothing, medicine, and shelter. We need help taking care of their pets, too.
If you are a refugee, you can information that will help you find relief. If you want to donate or volunteer, you can find someone who needs you. Believe me, there are a lot of organizations who need your help.
Right now the site mostly covers Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas but I'm adding more every night. My wife was down at Reunion Arena in Dallas Tuesday handing out care packages and spiritually ministering to the refugees as a representative of her employer. She says that the situation is tragic and that there's a lot of work to be done. There are so many children who don't know where their parents are or even if their parents are still alive.
There are a lot of churches and other organizations in Texas that need help in dealing with the problem and I would appreciate it if you would get the word out.
Many thanks,
Michael McCullough
Stingray blogsite
By the way, the website from my last post contains a number of links to animal aid operations. Large numbers of pets and horses have been brought to Texas and we need your help!
