Major Garrett is talking with Britt and reported that a Red Cross representative told him the LA state homeland security department refused them permission to take food and water to the Superdome because they did`nt want to encourage people to go there.
They wanted to get people out and were afraid that providing support would be a "magnet" atttracting more displaced persons.
To paraphrase, the state was looking to discourage people through hardship out of the Superdome. All the aid in the world wouldnt have gotten through.
If he mentioned the exact date,I missed it.I took it he was referring to the immediate aftermath last week either just before or after chaos broke out at the Superdome.
BRING ON THE HEARINGS!
Does Fox typically post transcripts of Brit's show? I recorded the entire segment, because Cameron was on target, bullseye, with this segment. This is something that should be posted on the front page of every newspaper--but I won't hold my breath.
Not only Hugh, but series, as well.
"Several others of us heard this too. Criminal, if you ask me."
Don't go bashing Big Gubmint - the BeuracratBots will come get ya.
Just saw it...it was incredible. He had just gotten off the phone with the REd Cross...the Louisiana Homeland Security would not allow the REd Cross to help people because they wanted them to LEAVE the area....but the point is...HOW were they to leave???
I say..bring the hearings ON! My understanding also is that the reason there were few supplies at the Superdome was that it was considered "last resort"..they didn't want the people to go there...they wanted them out of town. But again...How were they to leave?
What would OPrah say if she knew?
How can this be? I have just come from DU (yes I cleaned my shoes) and they said it is ALL Bush's fault.
Ping.
And he's EVERYWHERE! LOL
While the state was asking "Where is the food?" the state was denying the Red Cross access.
I saw that report. I say if the Libs want an investigation, then bring it on!
"is that the 20 year old that looted the bus?"
LOL
Rats, I read an article a few days ago that stated that the Red Cross has a series of smaller shelters in NO but decided not to open them because people might go to them rather than evacuate the city ... the shelters, they said were not adequate for long term stays (which at the time they anticipated due to the predicted Cat 5 hurricane).
This makes logical sense to me.
I can't find the article now.
If there's a transcript, that's even better. It can be emailed...to lots of people.
Attaboys and kudos to Major Garrett! I hope FOXNews.com post a written article soon.
They still aren't in there.
Hurricane Katrina: Why is the Red Cross not in New Orleans?
* Acess to New Orleans is controlled by the National Guard and local authorities and while we are in constant contact with them, we simply cannot enter New Orleans against their orders.
Can you just imagine if this had been done by President Bush or Haley Barbour?
BG & FMC, thought y'all might want to ping this one.

If any of you get a copy of the transcript on this particular show, please let me know! We're not on cable and I missed it.
