Nope. I blame the Democrats. The Democrats ran New Orleans and Louisiana for nearly centuries. The only time Louisiana had decent government was during Reconstruction. The Democrats created generations of welfare dependents and made them live in the hellholes of New Orleans. The Democrats glorify crime, violence, and foul-mouthed language as "Black culture". The Democrats elected an incompetent mayor and an incompetent governor. The Democrats can offer no solution to any problem, except, "It's Bush's fault". The Democrats are addled in their thinking and unscrupulous in their actions.

So nice to hear about Houston taking advantage of all those evacuees. What about Las Vegas and Atlanta? It seems Houston might be better off if Nagin saw fit to give every evacuee $200 dollars to spend like he is promissing the city officers and officials. I am sure the casinos, restaurants, cabs and strip clubs in Las Vegas and Atlanta will be looking forward to the influx of NO officials with money to burn.

There is a reason the left is hysterically smearing the good people in this country.
It is because the sight of good, decent Americans opening their hearts and pocketbooks, black helping white, white helping black, American helping American, is not an image they want seen. It flies in the face of their lies and propaganda, of how America is a terrible place and Big Daddy Government is the only one who is looking out for you.
You see, they want to paint America as harsh and uncaring, oppressive to the downtrodden, and rampant with racism.
The truth is just the opposite, and an honest assessment of what is actually happening shows that.
The left see these images of reality as a threat to their agenda of pitting rich against poor, black against white, etc. etc.
So they have to desperately make up any old lie that comes to mind, and hope it sticks.
The good news is that, as they have been doing, they are drastically eroding their own credibility with those who can see and think for themselves. Which is more people than they think.

Leftists tirelessly try to use child "logic" to "win" an argument by making their opponents tired.

Thw NYT is the Al Jerezza of the USA...they are a scum bag paper that wants to smear anything that is even remotely p[ositive about Bush.
For them to write this is an utter outrage. I can not believe they would even think Houston would do this to profit but then again tthe NYT is all about pointing everyone else's problems even though they have had many in the past and it has to do with editorial integrity.
I email the editor alot just to say howe can you call your paper a news paper it is more on par with the STAR at the grocery store check out lone.

The Astrodome was prudently stocked with disaster supplies because nearby Galveston might need them in the event of a big hurricane. Without a thought, Houston stepped up and became evacuation central. It will cost Houston taxpayers a lot of money, but nobody is giving a thought. So, in Houston you prepare for emergencies by stockpiling food, water, blankets, cots, etc., in the event Galeston needs to evacuate to Houston's Astrodome? Hmmmm...Could it be that Texans consistantly have voted into office public servants who actually can and do govern? Any Texan have any info under whose 'watch' these plans for a Galveston to Houston evacuation were initiated?

Not only has Houston taken in the great number, Lubbock took 1,000, Amarillo took 500 hospital patients, and little ole Big Springs was in the paper yesterday having taken some 25 families.
Texas has gone way above what any other state has done or offered, and if truth be known, we don't need any more drain on our welfare system that most of these folks will be. But there is no way we could turn our backs to these people in such devastating need who have lost so much. That wouldn't be humane, much less Christian. How many did New York take, or Connecticut, or Ohio, or.....I could go on and on.
Texas is majority conservative/Republican....and yet we are portrayed as not being compassionate.

Yeah, me, I'm sick to my soul of hearing the loonie left Bush haters, who ignore every good and honorable success of the Bush Administration, while at the same time fabricating failings which they magnify and shout from the hilltops as the truth.
The New York Times, calling the Compassion, empathy and generosity of the fine citizens of Houston, Texas, for the evacuees, some kind of scheme to profit from their suffering; exposes the reality that drinking the poluted waters covering New Orleans is better for your health than consuming the words on the pages of the vindictive, New York Times.
Let the reader be ware.

Can someone from the Houston Area please post an address where I can send some clothes for the poor unfortunate souls at the Astrodome? My wife has gone through her closets and has quite a few clothes that we need to either donate to a local church or someone else.
Thanks in advance!
