Nope. I blame the Democrats. The Democrats ran New Orleans and Louisiana for nearly centuries. The only time Louisiana had decent government was during Reconstruction. The Democrats created generations of welfare dependents and made them live in the hellholes of New Orleans. The Democrats glorify crime, violence, and foul-mouthed language as "Black culture". The Democrats elected an incompetent mayor and an incompetent governor. The Democrats can offer no solution to any problem, except, "It's Bush's fault". The Democrats are addled in their thinking and unscrupulous in their actions.

The incompetent list needs to include their Senator Landrieu.
She's the one that sneaked through election by promising sugar cane farmers to keep their subsidies, has her brother sitting next to this clueless Governor as a Lt. Governor, and told the world she would smack Bush if he tries to get off his responsibility list.
Senator go get your brother, he sat idly on the switchboard of governing, or after all else seems to have made no diference whatsoever.

I think the shrillness of the dems is because the difference of Republican-led states and a Democrat-led state is so apparent to anyone with a shred of intelligence and openness to see reality. LA is flailing hopelessly about between giants. TX is taking in LAers and MS is courageously going about rescuing people and rebuilding their lives. Talk about a contrast.

Uh, Oh. Better not to say,"...the only time LA had decent government was during Reconstruction." Hope you don't live in the South saddled with those sentiments. To Southerners, Reconstruction was the most horiffic period in our history. Newly elected carpetbaggers, blacks, and scalliwags kept the South broke for years paying Southern legeslature's bills for such things as an ocean of fine Kentucky bourbon, Virginia hams, and even in at least one instance in MS, a red satin corset. Hundreds of courthouses were burned to cloud the titles to our land, plantation owners who had always treated their slaves well, were horrified that the Union had no PLAN to care for freed slaves, and no money or economy of thier own to pay for their hire. There are estimates that there were as many as 50,000 freed slaves who wandered the the roads of the South until they succumed to disease and starvation.

Because of the horrors of Reconstruction, the South voted solid for Democrats until Reagan. Texas didn't even have a two party system until then, about the time the Dems were highjacked by those who, at length, finnally succomed to the lessons well taught by the carpetbaggers. Hillary comes to mind. Reagan Democrat here.
