BELLINGHAM, Wash. - A man turned himself in to authorities in the killing of two convicted child rapists, saying he picked the victims from a sheriff's Web site, police said.
Michael Anthony Mullen, 36, called 911 on Monday to claim responsibility for the killings, and officers who talked to him said he gave information that only the killer would know, according to a police news release. He was jailed for investigation of two counts of first-degree murder.
Hank Eisses, 49, and Victor Vasquez, 68, were found shot to death at their apartment Aug. 27. They were both classified as Level III sex offenders, considered the type most likely to reoffend. Sex offenders in Washington are required to register with local authorities, and the information is provided on the Web.
Mullen told authorities he targeted at least one of the two men after checking the county sheriff's Web site July 13, according to the police statement.
The bodies of Eisses and Vasquez were found by a roommate, also a sex offender. He said a man wearing a blue jumpsuit and a cap that said FBI on it came to their home, told them he was an FBI agent and said one of them was on a "hit list" on an Internet site, police said.
The roommate said he left while the "FBI" visitor was still there and found the bodies when he returned about four hours later.
Days after the killings, The Bellingham Herald received an unsigned letter claiming responsibility for the killings. Police notified convicted Level 3 sex offenders in the area as a precaution, but said the letter was vague and could be a hoax.

I'm not sure I understand your comment?
SonsOfLiberty was saying that s/he is afraid now that this happened, that the publicly available information regarding where sex offenders reside may no longer be publicly available (ACLU challenge, etc.). So, s/he would rather have the two alive, and the information available to everyone, than have these two perps dead, and have Megan's law repealed.

What do you think about the FBI sniper, Lon Horouchi, killing Vickie Weaver from ambush at Ruby Ridge.
Out and out murder. He clearly violated the RoE.

Well now, we family types can't have all the fun, love, anxiety, grandchildren, heirs, etc. etc. now can we.
Carry on doing whatever it is your doing by yourself and enjoy.
That's just bizarre. I was referring to the fact that several here seem to think that if one doesn't have kids, one can't weigh in on this topic as validly as those with kids. It is a pity that I don't have kids. I always wanted them, but things never worked out.

Do you think this man will serve any time? Knowing how our justice system works, he'll probably get a long sentence... longer than the perverts. Did he have to tell the cops?
To: manwiththehands
This is really bad news. The ACLU will be all over this, as they should be. First order of business: no more publicly available information of registered sex offenders.
I hate to have to agree with your post. That info was hard fought for and must be kept public to protect the innocent. Hopefully this citizen will be ruled insane and be let go with a prescription, probation and a laptop. ;o)

The problem is that we really don't have a constitutional republic any more,
Marbury v. Madison took care of that. But this trend of judicial legislation has accelerated since
Roe v. Wade. Legislative corruption is also rampant - just look at the pork content of any major, recent federal spending bill, and many states are worse.
And elections? How free and fair are they when the Democrats are allowed to routinely - in some places for decades at a stretch - stuff ballot boxes, get loyalists to vote multiple times, and sabotage the opposition? When illegal aliens vote equally with citizens?
The corruption of legislatures has allowed the judicial branch to take over, and that branch has decided to give us a perverted view of the very document our republic relies upon to exist. Let us not be fooled by the illusion of justice it purports to present.

Cant imagine why he told the police other than the heavy burden of guilt? Otherwise I have no idea. More than likely he would have gotten away with it.

this is just about the time that little Shasta Groene was rescued from a convicted child rapist.....that is after he "alledgedly" slaughtered three other people mercilessly and tortured and killed Shasta's brother Dylan, of course, all of that "alledgedly".....
there is a boiling point....

"Would they set up 12 step programs for people"
With any luck that that program would involve a .44 a box of ammo and 11 more pedos.

"Then go for a referendum. Grassroots organizations have pushed stuff past recalcitrant politicians for ages." Good idea, except that nowadays an activist judge can throw out all your good work.
As I said, anarchy has drawbacks, but it also has some good points. Hitler ruled over Germany very lawfully, but think how much better the world might have been if some anarchist had ventilated him back in 1935. Indeed, a group of his General Officers attempted an anarchistic act when they set off a biomb under his planning table. They were unsuccessful but their hearts were in the right place.

Punish to the full extent of the law. Vigilantism can not be tolerated in a society based on the rule of law.
To: andyk
I understand Son's concern, but in WA state at least, it would have to go to either a vote of the people, or a vote of the legislature.
In either instance, a vote to repeal would be politically poisonous. In this case, the vigilantism of a select few individuals will simply have to be the unfortunate price paid for having the information available to everyone.

I'm at a loss to correlate how your statement ... " " Here we go. Everyone with no kids, please leave the thread now." ...relates to my reply in post #35 ... " Only if it is not your child.". [I was replying to post # 19]
I made no indication that persons with no children need not comment, or leave the thread, and if you took it that way it certainly was not my intent.
That aside, I had no right to attack you personally like that, and I appologize for being crass.

Re: You are missing our point alltogether
No I am not missing any point.
And what happens if as a consequence Megans law is repealed.
How do you keep tabs on all the other peodophiles out there.
That is my point.
Megans law is set up to help us, and needs to be protected.

Well, I can see that you were referring to whether people would consider it murder based on whether they were personally involved. However, I see a lot of support for these murders on this thread from people who obviously cannot be personally involved.
I can see (from 237 - which I had missed) that you think it would be worth the consequences if it was a child of yours. Your reference to neither God's law nor man's indicates that morality would not play into your decision; I guess that's a pretty common sentiment on this thread. Anyway, thanks for clearing things up; I appreciate it.
