U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters: Rescue delay shows "class division"

Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005 8:00 p.m. U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters, D-California, arrived in Baton Rouge on Saturday with one message to President Bush and federal rescue agencies:

"Get it done," Waters said. "I thought I'd seen a lot. Don't forget, I'm from Los Angeles," where there has been a documented history of rioting. "But nothing like this. To see dead bodies on the street just unnerves me."

Waters said she came in response to the vast scope of the catastrophe, and was flanked by her friend State Sen. Cleo Fields, D-Baton Rouge. At about 4 p.m. on Saturday, Waters said she was leaving to ride a bus with evacuees from New Orleans. "To give them water, to give them comfort," she said at the Emergency Operations Center in Baton Rouge

The Southern Louisiana Evacuation Plan specifically stated that people without private transportation were to be transported on public buses.

There were not just "200 buses". There were 200 buses in just one photo and Freepers studying the post-Katrina satellite images have counted over 400 buses altogether at other city parking.

At 70 people per bus that is 28,000 people per round trip that could have been taken out of the storm surge area in the 48 hours prior the Katrina striking.

After the storm hit, what makes you think that buses sent from outside of New Orleans could drive through the flooded mess any better than the 145 New Orleans city buses that were parked 1.2 miles away from the Superdome?

Was Scotty supposed to beam the outside buses to the Superdome and them beam them back out so that they would not have to drive through impassable roads?

The time to evacuate those 200,000 low-income people on public buses OUT OF THE STORM SURGE ZONE was BEFORE the Category 4 storm struck.

That was what the Southern Louisiana Evacuation Plan for New Orleans specifically called for.

The Democrat Governor and the Democrat Mayor did NOTHING to carry out that portion of the plan. They left 200,000 low-income resident abandoned and they now blame the Federal Government for not having Scotty beam down a massive logistics effort after a human disaster of their own making.

Here is just one other example as to why to post this stuff about the beloved Maxine:

Letter to Maxine Waters from Larry Elder, L.A. talk show host www.larryelder.com ^ | 10/23/01 | Larry Elder

In 1979, former Black Panther, Joanne Chesimard, gunned down a New Jersey State Highway Patrol Officer. A jury convicted her of murder, and sentenced her to life in prison. In a daring breakout, Chesimard escaped from prison and fled to Cuba. Congress passed a unanimous resolution urging Castro to send Chesimard back to America and face charges. You, however, wrote Castro a letter, urging him to let her stay, stating "she was persecuted as a result of her political beliefs and affiliations." You further likened her to Martin Luther King!

"Maybe it will take this great tragedy for people to realize once and for all that those who cry racism loudest are the biggest racists"

And the laziest $kimmers. I see they're all lining up at the gravy train station.

On another thread a Mississippi scientist warned that this flood could cause snakes, rodents and fire ants to turn up in unusual places. What he didn't warn was that along with the snakes and rodents would come Waters, Jackson, Lee and Sharpton. That in and of itself should cause the self respecting snakes and rodents to look for a better situation.

Ole Maxine was late getting to the party as she thought the hurricane hit New York and not New Orleans.

What took her so long?! Someone needs to revamp her Emergency Racist-Remarks Response--it's simply not timely.

I was asking myself the same thing. Then I came to the realization that those things (they're not people to me - people presupposes a capacity for reason) are irredeemably stupid. They would vote to be sodomized all over again.

As I have said on other threads, they will be using this issue to "get out the vote" in north Miami and west Philadelphia in 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020, and 2024.

What delay? By whose standard has the Federal response been slow? Tim Russert? Maxine Waters? How fast was the Govt supposed to respond in 15 feet of water? FEMA responded to a hurricaine and encountered a flood.

A family member of mine who is a Red Cross volunteer nurse at the Monroe Civic Center Shelter has told me that Cleo Fields Bus arrived in Monroe at 4 a.m. with no fanfare or photo op. No mention of Maxine.
