Just heard state of emergency declared for Texas by President, does anyone know what exactly that means, I live in Texas so I am curious how this might effect me.

Legal prerequisite to get federal funds to cover the relief effort. That's it.

I'm in WV and we have also been declared an emergency state. It means funds break loose to help. Basically it means money will flow in. The list of states are states that have received survivors.

They are coming to the realization of the "character" of a lot of the young male evacuees from NOLA, and are needing extra Law Enforcement, as well as federal dollars.

Unless you are an evacuee, a local government, or a company providing shelter to refugees, it means nothing.

If you are one of the above, it means that the Feds will help pay the expenses involved in the relief effort.

All of the states that are taking in "refugees" are on that list...

It means Texas will get federal $$$$$$$ in aid for the people they have "adopted"...that is good news. It means some of the tax dollars we will be spending will be coming back to our state.
