I LOVE this one.
I also like the pictures of Bush holding his hand over states and regions. I hope he does that -- puts his hand on a map of America -- when he prays.

Sorry you've had the nasty cold--that can wreck a mood any day much less when having to hear all the drivel we've had to for the past week. And Mary Landreau can.......well, she just went too far in my opinion!
Thanks for the sanity.
I was happy to link it--it tells the truth, darn it!

As a personal friend of the President and first lady as well as part of the Government I am certain she feels this doubly.Yes. I've never seen Condi look so drawn. Her home state of Alabama was hit by the hurricane, although not as severely as Mississippi and Louisiana.
The media keeps focusing on New Orleans, and I can understand that given the fact that a major city may not be inhabitable again for a long time. However, the total devastated area is the size of Great Britain. Other cities and towns were wiped out completely, as were many rural areas. You can imagine if something comparable happened to your entire country how hard it would be to mobilize a response and rebuild. Imagine if the media only focused on London, and on whining about your PM, while the rest of the nation was suffering equally.
That is comparable to what is happening on our Gulf Coast now.

They are hysterical... and amazingly stupid about all of this. The broadcast networks, with few exceptions, contribute nothing to real dialogue. The inflame, over-inflate, posture and preen. They're useless.Very well said.

Absolutely! Her composure is quite amazing. She'll hold up, stay strong and give her best as she always does...it's just painful to see her hurting.

It's made me feel hateful and I don't like feeling that way.Agreed. But it's awfully hard to resist the bitter feelings I have for the media today.

I thank God too for Laura...George needs her so much, and they have said before that they get a great deal of comfort from each other. I also thank God for such a wonderful man to be our President!! What a lucky woman Laura is, to be married to such a wonderful man!!

It boggled my mind when I first read that the disaster area is the size of Great Britain. When I told that to a friend, he said, "NO WAY!" It's just not something I can grasp geographically.

They make such a complete team, I can't imagine how one would be able to function without the other. I know he has to make the world-encompasing decisions, but if he didn't have her to come home to and talk things over with......

He didn't look like this after 9/11, when he had state and local officials who were pouring their hearts into the rescue and recovery.Absolutely. And he doesn't have the same problem with state and local officials in equally hard hit Mississippi, or in Alabama. Although comparatively minor, Georgia also has some serious damage from Katrina. How come all those states don't have the same problems Louisiana does? (Rhetorical question, of course.)
