PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: President Bush and First Lady Laura Bush attended church this morning before visiting the Red Cross Headquarters in Washington. The President also made a statement about the death of Chief Justice William Rehnquist. Mr. Chief Justice Rehnquist spent more than 50 years of service to the nation, 33 of which were at the Supreme Court. During his tenure, William Rehnquist was among the most influential Chief Justices in history. His death creates a rare double opening on the U.S. Supreme Court, giving President Bush the chance to make a significant mark on the federal judiciary.
The President will tour the Gulf Coast disaster area again tomorrow to personally assess progress.
When you try to wrap your mind around all President Bush does every single day he's in office, it's daunting. The hardest job in the world, and yet he does it such grace, energy, and good cheer. God bless him; we're so lucky he's President. Just the thought of Kerry in the WH is enough to make your blood run cold.
Did you see that witch, Celine Dion, on CNN today? She was all teary eyed as she raged against the President. How, she demanded, was it possible to so quickly send the military to take over another country, but we can't even take care of her own.

The media, most of them, have been ugly and disgusting. It's made me feel hateful and I don't like feeling that way. Every time we think they've reached a new low, they reach lower.
I just marvel at her composure, though. She's a remarkable woman. (BTW, she'll turn 59 soon. We on the Dose need to remember to celebrate her birthday.)

The MSM are screaming the sky is falling and why doesn't nanny govt. do something! They show themselves up as ignorant and worse. The funny thing is that the average man/woman in the street knows more about how govt. is supposed to work than these Leftist journalistic school elites. I wonder how many Americans simply turned the sound off and watched hurricane coverage without the benefit of Wolf's giant intellect...if they watched CNN at all. Most watched Fox, and were rewarded last night with an excellent show on Rhenquist's death and repercussions.
On a happy note..I am celebrating something wonderful..My SEAMAN RECRUIT grandson just graduated from Great Lakes...His mom and dad are there and I am babysitting the cats and kittens.

We just have to hope that enough people have the same reaction to the media performance during this catastrophe as we do.

Hi LUV W. I've been battling a cold all week. It's nearly gone, but an annoying dry cough keeps hanging on. So I'm not in the best of moods anyway, and the media has all but shattered my normal easy-going manner. A dose of sanity island was much needed by me today, that's for sure. BTW, thanks for linking that thread to this one.
W has been looking like it's taking a lot of effort to contain his aggravation over the way the feds couldn't get the local authorities moving. His grimace seems to me to be connected with the obstacle fighting rather than primarily the disaster and deaths. He didn't look like this after 9/11, when he had state and local officials who were pouring their hearts into the rescue and recovery.
Yes...and each other as well in these difficult times.
We needed a smile and gave me one.
