PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: President Bush and First Lady Laura Bush attended church this morning before visiting the Red Cross Headquarters in Washington. The President also made a statement about the death of Chief Justice William Rehnquist. Mr. Chief Justice Rehnquist spent more than 50 years of service to the nation, 33 of which were at the Supreme Court. During his tenure, William Rehnquist was among the most influential Chief Justices in history. His death creates a rare double opening on the U.S. Supreme Court, giving President Bush the chance to make a significant mark on the federal judiciary.
The President will tour the Gulf Coast disaster area again tomorrow to personally assess progress.
I hope the spirit of the past Presidents is helping him.. He needs sure needs it...
Um, actually I can't take credit for using blue to affix the Blob because I'm still trying to figure out my printer's image changing software. It didn't come with a handbook and the blue was the default.
But I must say I did admire the blue blob effect.

Hi mystery!! Mike still using his own computer? lol.
Hope all is well with you and your family.
Yes, but right now he's watching a movie in the other room with Brandon...
good for him. spending time with Brandon is quality time.. and less stressful than talking about the low life libs and biased media.
Mike can't take too much more of the Bash Bush Fest....he told me today that if he ever even considers to vote for a Dem, that I was to shoot him...I said I had no problem with that, not to worry...LOL
Shh! Don't tell anybody, but we are getting her a computer for her 90th Birthday this week. She has been making do with a Web-tv, but it is time for an upgrade so she can more easily e-mail her comments to media folks that annoy her.
These men, both the English and the Americans, were all professional engineers having completed a four or five year engineering course at a University. In America it would be a Bachelor of Science degree. I am sure the englishmen all had comparable degrees. They would have to be about 21 years old to reach this level and then have several years experience in design on shore before being taken on as petroleum engineers on board a rig. So they were all university graduates in engineering with perhaps different amounts of classical education, thus the disparity in english fluency.
We all got along fine and I enjoyed working with them. One of the things I liked about that work was the camaraderie, and stimulating fellow workers.
In England engineering is also a BSc. I am pleased that you enjoyed my fellow Brits company in the past.
I don't understand what has happened to our country. These people who seem to have no sense of responsibility for our country. They must not have had the elementary schools that we had in my day. I grew up during the depression and there was the class struggle going on, but we all loved our
country. John L Lewis and George Meany and Samuel Gompers were loyal Americans. Maybe not the Wobblies, I don't know.
Well, we all went to strict elementary schools and learned how to read and write and we learned patriotism and ethics. We did not call it "values" eiher.
It is all very troubling to me too, and I am thankfulthat wehave a president who is man good character and loves America and we must elect a successor that will carry on.
The MSM is beyond disgusting . . . actually there are no adjectives in the English language sufficient to describe their nefariousness . . . so I'm not even going to try!
HOWEVER, according to a new ABCNEWS/WASHINGTON POST Poll, the MSM has not achieved the results they are so desparately seeking . . .
POLL: BUSH NOT TAKING BRUNT OF KATRINA CRITICISM; HURRICAN PREPAREDNESS IS FAULTED; FEWER BLAME BUSH FOR PROBLEMS
Analysis by GARY LANGER
Sept. 4, 2005 Americans are broadly critical of government preparedness in the Hurricane Katrina disaster but far fewer take George W. Bush personally to task for the problems, and public anger about the response is less widespread than some critics would suggest.

Powerlineblog responds to this poll as follows:
THE LIMITS OF MSM CARPING
Glenn Reynolds cites an ABC News poll which indicates that the American public is resisting the leftist/MSM attacks on President Bush regarding the federal response to Katrina. The poll results suggest that people get the fact that the local response was worse than the federal one; that (as is almost always the case when a bureaucracy must face a massive crisis) the initial federal response left something to be desired; and that Bush isn't to blame.
Now that the federal response has ramped up and is producing results, there's a good chance that the public will come to view it, and the president, more favorably. Of course, the left and the MSM will be looking for new things to second guess and individual tragedies to exploit, but (in the words of the ABC story) the American public is inclined to be more hopeful than discontented. Come to think of it, that's a pretty good explanation for the problems the left and the MSM face.

[WARNING: Other MSM-owned polls will surface soon that will purport to show a MUCH higher level of discontent with the President . . . To achieve these 'higher' results, the pollsters will simply adjust their sample to include fewer Republicans and MANY more Democrats/Democrat-leaning Independents (AP/Ipsos Reid immediately comes to mind . . . for months, they've been oversampling Democrats by 9-13 points)! Forewarned is forearmed . . . we'll just name the game and move on!]
Are you also pleased that your countrymen speak the King's English so well? I think it is something for which you can be proud.
