PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: President Bush and First Lady Laura Bush attended church this morning before visiting the Red Cross Headquarters in Washington. The President also made a statement about the death of Chief Justice William Rehnquist. Mr. Chief Justice Rehnquist spent more than 50 years of service to the nation, 33 of which were at the Supreme Court. During his tenure, William Rehnquist was among the most influential Chief Justices in history. His death creates a rare double opening on the U.S. Supreme Court, giving President Bush the chance to make a significant mark on the federal judiciary.
The President will tour the Gulf Coast disaster area again tomorrow to personally assess progress.
In this photo we see the President of the United States, the most powerful man in the world, but notice how at ease and calm everyone is around him (the same for Laura in the background). There's a genuineness about both of them that I find reassuring, especially at times like this. This photo captures that quality in a very subtle way, I think.
Well said.
Oh thank you for the pcture of Dr. Frist. I had not seen it. And for him it is definitly notjust a photo op. it is no picnic for a busy man to go to Louisiana to work this time of year. (I assume you are familiar with the American espression "no picnic")
Congratulations! How nice to have a grandson who fills you with so much deserved pride.
Thank you, kitkat!
Thank you for the psalm. Iam now reading the book, "The Lord is My Shepherd" by Kushner about that psalm. Good book. Explains some things I never understood before.
These are tough times.
Part of me wants to just turn off the news to stop hearing the lies and slander of our GOOD President, but I want to know what's going on, so I keep turning the TV on.
I am SO angry that the evil left is trying to blame this disaster on our President (when he acted before ANYONE else). I need to put this all in the Lord's hands (as our President has obviously done), but it's a struggle right now.
HA HA Take that ABC news you idiottt rack the photos Wolfstar
Hey you know what I feel sorry for little a bit
Cindy Sheehan I bet she throw a diva fit think about it Hurricane Kateria took all her media coverage now Chief Justice Requnist just died
You know what I wonder if late Chief Justice was thinking damn I knew W when he was teenager REMEMBERRRR Bush Sr was head of CIA at the time during Tricky Dicky administation
You know what you getting older when teenage son of CIA leader is now President of the US
Poor Celine--she's just as stupid as she is shallow.
IIRC, we didn't just decide one day to "take over a country" (I assume she means Iraq). Before one US boot touched the ground over there, we spent between a year and 18 months gathering all the intel, troops and equipment that we felt were necessary to successfully invade Iraq. And this the US military (and our many allies) did--but it didn't happen overnight, Celine. It took us a few weeks to end Saddam's reign of terror (which you and others of the French persuasion ignored for years).
Now President Bush has had to mobilize the largest rescue/aid effort in this country's history IN LESS THAN THREE DAYS--and he did it, Celine. With absolutely no help from Nagin or Blanco or Landrieu, or from any other liberal within arm's reach of a microphone. And he certainly didn't get any help from you, Celine. Just criticism. That's all liberals can do--criticize while they watch others do the work.
God bless my president.
And you blotted them out with blue--an appropriate color for them :)
The MSM has a lot to answer for in their "reporting" of this whole disaster - Australian TV has their own reporters on the ground there too - and guess what, surprise, surprise - its all Bush's fault. It is so frustrating and annoying - the Australian press are also being a little bit self-serving as well - "rescuing" stranded Aussie tourists and blaming the Howard Government for not getting them out. OK - PM Howard will send in a helicopter from Australia to rescue Aussies only. PUR-LEEZ!
Thank you Wolfstar and everyone here at FR for getting out the word of what is really happening. God Bless you all!
Congratulations to your grandson :)
;) Thank you!
piano hands!
In the US yes but not in Britain LOL
:)
I'd like to see Nagin, Landrieu and Blanco fired. Just kicked out on their asses. I don't know if the president has the authority to do that, but still it's something I'd like to see.
Those three stooges are doing nothing but obstructing and more and more people are realizing it. I was amazed this morning to hear CBS's own Bob Schieffer say to Michael Chertoff: (paraphrase) "Shouldn't these people be replaced." I believe he was talking about Nagin more than anyone else, but I was stunned to hear a liberal say this at all. There may be hope yet :)
If you listen closely, you can hear the heads exploding at DU :)
Hi, Snugs :) I saw Frist being interviewed by Geraldo on FOX. Geraldo said beforehand that Frist would only agree to the interview if he was interviewed as a doctor, not a senator. I admire him for that.
