NEW ORLEANS - Police shot eight people carrying guns on a New Orleans bridge Sunday, killing five or six of them, a deputy chief said.
Deputy Police Chief W.J. Riley said the shootings took place on the Danziger Bridge, which connects Lake Pontchartrain and the Mississippi River.
He said he had no other details.

just in......police officers mistakenly shot and killed several people with the Army Corps of Engineers.
They were not looters.

It is terrible that the innocent victims were shot. This is becoming more sad beyond belief each and every day.
I heard that Fox is reporting that the dead were armed Corps of Engineers workers--I dont' have TV--can anyone confirm??

There were misplaced anyway. No justification at all for assuming the victims were "thugs". In the last ten minutes we all just found out why.
This is about to get REALLY interesting. Someone is going to have some 'splainin' to do if this is true. I'll wait until I hear it from someone other than the Ass. Press.
wasn't there a thread earlier today saying that some of the looters had uniforms and badges of some kind???I am not sure I think it was FEMA but could not swear to it.
