Per AP on the FOX News Channel
NEW ORLEANS - Police shot eight people carrying guns on a New Orleans bridge Sunday, killing five or six of them, a deputy chief said.
Deputy Police Chief W.J. Riley said the shootings took place on the Danziger Bridge, which connects Lake Pontchartrain and the Mississippi River.
He said he had no other details.
The amazing thing regarding these "enlightened" bigots that have tried to hijack this thread is that most of the crime in the projects of NO is "black on black" crime......
The poor and working blacks (the majority) are just as terrified as any other decent law abiding citizen.....
Crime is crime.....arrest the looters regardless of color, kill the ones that resist with weapons....
The enlightened ones also haven't noticed that a large number of the LEO's for NO are black......

You missed my whole point. That is exactly why those trying to restore order in NO are heroic, and MUST be given the benefit of any doubt, when confronting gun-toting probable thugs. Our troops in Iraq are fighting a war, and are still heroic in their efforts, although they are aware of the risks. The situation in New Orleans is frought with almost equal danger. therefore we must give the law and order authorities the benefit of any doubt.
You are doing good at "Martial Law" in cyber at FR. Getting folks to slow down, stop reacting so emotively and heavily -- it's rough. It's been a rough week. And as usual, some flotsam floated in. Always does when something "big" happens.

Calculating or not I don't know what people mean when they refer to the MSM? It usually means something they disagree with, I think. For grins I like to see every news person and every news organization pulled out of N.O. for just 24 hours and see what people would say then.
The answer to what is considered poor reporting is more reporting - not less. I want as many news people in the area as the place can handle.

I do sincerely hope they were indeed armed thugs and not law-abiding citizens trying to protect themselves. New Orleans police have a reputation for being trigger-happy.
If they were indeed thugs, maybe the word will spread that party time is over.
